Saints and Aberdeen have faced off three times this season with very little to separate the two.

There has been one win each and a draw in the three meetings this season.

The first saw St Mirren narrowly edged at Pittodrie in October. Ethan Erhahon had given Saints a second-half lead, but Marley Watkins levelled 17 minutes later. The Buddies were left empty-handed when Lewis Ferguson struck in injury time to seal a 2-1 victory for the Dons.

Saints would come out on top when the two sides met at the SMiSA Stadium in the last 16 of the Betfred Cup a month later. Ilkay Durmus put the Buddies in front with an early free-kick before Niall McGinn equalised just before half-time. With the game heading to extra-time, Jamie McGrath scored a late winner for Saints to put us through to the quarter-finals.

Jim Goodwin's side hosted Aberdeen the following week in the Scottish Premiership. The sides couldn't be separated with McGrath equalising from the penalty spot after Jonny Hayes had put the visitors in front.

Who are the officials?

The referee on Saturday is Euan Anderson. He is assisted by Drew Kirkland and Joseph Lawson, while William Collum is the fourth official.

Up next: St Mirren v Celtic (10th Feb)

Saints sit in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership having won three of their last four league matches. A 2-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday followed a narrow loss at home to Hibernian last week. There were also wins in the aforementioned match at Celtic and a 5-1 victory over Dundee United.

Celtic have won both their matches since losing to Saints. They defeated Kilmarnock 4-0 at Rugby Park before a 2-1 win over Motherwell at Celtic Park on Saturday.

The Buddies have been on the losing end in both meetings between the two this season.

Hibernian ran out 3-0 winners at the SMiSA Stadium back in September, before narrowly defeating Saints 1-0 at Easter Road two days before Christmas.

Alan Muir is the referee on Tuesday night and he is assisted by Andrew McWilliam and Gordon Crawford. Greg Aitken is fourth official.

Up next: Celtic v St Mirren (30th Jan)

St Mirren are on the road again this weekend as the Buddies take on Celtic at Celtic Park.

Saints picked up their first win of 2021 on Wednesday night in sensational fashion as Jim Goodwin's men put five past Dundee United at Tannadice.

Goals from Joe Shaughnessy, Jamie McGrath (x2), Dylan Connolly and Kristian Dennis secured the 5-1 win - the first time Saints have scored five goals away from home in the top flight since 1984.

Celtic, meanwhile, also won their first match of 2021 on Wednesday with a 2-0 home win over Hamilton Academical which ended a run of four without a win for the Glasgow side.

Up next: Dundee United v St Mirren (27th January)

St Mirren are back in Scottish Premiership action on Wednesday night as Jim Goodwin's men take on Dundee United at Tannadice.

Saints will be looking to get their first win of 2021 on the board and quickly move on from the disappointment of losing the Betfred Cup semi-final against Livingston on Sunday.

The Buddies last win came on Boxing Day when we beat Ross County 2-0 in Dingwall. Since then there have been 1-1 draws against Kilmarnock and Motherwell and losses to Rangers (0-2), St Johnstone (0-1) and Livingston (0-1).

Dundee United are also searching for their first win in 2021 having not won since 23rd December. Mickey Mellon's side have drawn four of their last five Scottish Premiership matches, while losing the other away to Celtic.

Manager's Thoughts

"Dundee United are a very well-drilled and well-organised team.

"They have a really good defensive shape about them and are quite compact. We all know about the attacking threat they have too with Lawrence Shankland, Marc McNulty and Nicky Clark.

"We are going to have to make sure we are organised defensively and we have to come up with solutions to break down a very well-organised defence."

Previous

St Mirren have faced Dundee United twice this season but have yet to win against the Terrors.

Goals either side of half-time from Lawrence Shankland and Adrian Sporle had United comfortably ahead when Saints visited Tannadice in September. Despite Richard Tait being shown a straight red card on the hour mark, Saints pulled a goal back through Dylan Connolly but couldn't force a leveller.

Neither side could be separated when they met in Paisley at the start of November with a 0-0 draw played out at the SMiSA Stadium.

Who are the officials?

John Beaton takes charge of the action on Wednesday night. His linesmen are Graeme Stewart and Stuart Stevenson. Graham Grainger is the fourth official.

Up next: Livingston v St Mirren (24th Jan)

St Mirren are on the march to Hampden on Sunday with a place in the Betfred Cup final up for grabs as the Saints take on Livingston.

The Buddies have had to do it the hard way to qualify for the last four. Jim Goodwin's men topped Group G after coming up against Morton, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South and Queen's Park before defeating Aberdeen 2-1 in the second-round thanks to goals from Ilkay Durmus and Jamie McGrath.

Saints then became the first, and so far only, team to beat Rangers this season when the two met in December in the quarter-final. Connor Goldson gave the Ibrox side an early lead. But a double from McGrath either side of half-time put St Mirren in front. A dramatic finish saw Steven Davis net a late equaliser for Rangers, only for Conor McCarthy to score the winner for Saints in injury time.

Livingston also topped their Betfred Cup group having won all of their group matches - defeating Edinburgh City, Alloa Athletic, Stenhousemuir and Airdrieonians. The Lions then defeated Ayr United (4-0) and Ross County (2-0) in the following rounds to qualify for this weekend's semi.

Jake Doyle-Hayes was the match-winner when the Buddies travelled to Livingston in November.

St Johnstone also began their year with a 1-1 draw when they travelled to Dingwall to face Ross County on the 2nd of January.

The Perth side were due to play Dundee United last Saturday, but a frozen pitch meant that match was rescheduled for Tuesday night. Guy Melamed and Chris Kane scored as they drew 2-2 with the Tannadice side.

Manager's Thoughts

"You know what you're going to get with St Johnstone.

"I went through to Tannadice on Tuesday night and thought St Johnstone were excellent. Their run of form on paper probably doesn't suggest that they are doing too well but they are a very good side.

"Callum [Davidson] has them playing some really good football. We're going to have to be at our best on Saturday to try and get the kind of result that we want."

Previous

St Mirren came out on top when the sides met six days before Christmas. St Johnstone had taken the lead twice with first-half goals between Stevie May and Scott Tanser goals sandwiched between an Ethan Erhahon strike. But late goals from Lee Erwin and Jon Obika saw the Paisley Saints win 3-2.

St Johnstone were the victors when Saints travelled to McDiarmid Park back in August with Stevie May grabbing the game's only goal.

Who are the officials?

Nick Walsh is the referee on Saturday and he is assisted by Graeme Stewart and David Dunne. Matthew MacDermid is the fourth official.

Manager's Thoughts

"We know what kind of game we are going to be in for.

"They are a very physical, well-organised, hardworking team and we are going to have to match that physicality first and foremost and then get the ball down and the play kind of football we have been able to play recently.

"Kilmarnock are coming into the game on the back of a really good result away to Motherwell so you would imagine that will give them a real boost.

"I don't think they will make too many changes from the team that did well Motherwell and I would expect us to face the same eleven."

Previous

St Mirren have faced Kilmarnock once already this season with the Rugby Park outfit defeating Saints 1-0 at the SMiSA Stadium in September.

Saints were victorious in the last meeting between the two last season when Ilkay Durmus scored the only goal in a 1-0 win to end 2019.

Who are the officials?

Craig Napier is the referee on Saturday. He'll be assisted by Sean Carr and Stuart Hodge with Steven McLean the fourth official.

Up Next: St Mirren v Rangers (30th December)

St Mirren face Rangers for the second time this month as the Glasgow side visit Paisley for Scottish Premiership action.
