Up Next: St Johnstone v St Mirren (6th Nov)

St Mirren travel to Perth on Saturday to face St Johnstone in the cinch Premiership ahead of the final international break of 2021.

Saints will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at home to Dundee last weekend.

However, the Buddies away form has been good this season with Jim Goodwin's men having only lost one of six away matches in the cinch Premiership. Indeed, Saints are unbeaten in their last four away matches - beating Livingston and Ross County as well as drawing at Hibernian and Motherwell.

St Johnstone picked up their first win in four on Saturday when Callum Davidson's outfit defeated high-flying Dundee United 1-0 at Tannadice.

The Paisley Saints sit a point above the Perth Saints in the league heading into Saturday's match.

Previous

Neither side could be separated when they met at the SMiSA Stadium in August. Conor McCarthy had an early goal disallowed for offside as the game finished 0-0.

McDiarmid Park hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Saints since their return to the top flight in 2018. The Buddies have failed to win in any of their last six visits with the last victory in Perth coming in October 2014.

Saints did defeat St Johnstone in the league last season - winning 3-2 at the SMiSA Stadium in December.

The officials

The referee this weekend is Greg Aitken. Graeme Stewart and David Dunne are the linesmen and Nick Walsh is the fourth official.

Up Next: Motherwell v St Mirren (27th Oct)

St Mirren are back to it this midweek as the Saints head to Lanarkshire to face Motherwell in the cinch Premiership.

The Buddies six-match unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday as Jim Goodwin's men were edged out 2-1 by Rangers at the SMiSA Stadium.

Motherwell go into Wednesday night having lost their last three matches. The Steelmen lost 2-1 away to Dundee United on Saturday after 2-0 losses to both Celtic and Hearts.

Heading into Wednesday night's match, Graham Alexander's side sit one point ahead of Saints in the cinch Premiership.

Match Details

Motherwell v St Mirren
Competition: cinch Premiership
Date: Wednesday 27th October 2021
Kick-off: 7:45pm
Venue: Fir Park

Ticket Info

Tickets for our trip to Fir Park are sold out at the St Mirren Ticket Office but can still be purchased online.

Motherwell have confirmed that tickets will be available for away supporters at Fir Park on matchday. Vaccine certification is not required.

The match is also available on PPV at a cost of £12 for anyone who can't make the match. However, due to UEFA broadcasting restrictions this service is not available in England.

Previous

Motherwell were the victors when the side's last met in April - defeating Saints 1-0 at Fir Park.

However, the Buddies were victorious in the other visit to Fir Park last season. Jamie McGrath scored the only goal when the Buddies won 1-0 in December.

Two meetings between the two at the SMiSA Stadium ended in draws - 1-1 in January and 0-0 in February.

Jamie McGrath scores the winner on a visit to Fir Park last season.

Manager's Thoughts

Motherwell have had a decent start to the season.

"They are a very well organised, hard-working, physical team so we're going to have to pick an 11 that is going to be able to compete with the aggression that Motherwell bring.

"I think if we play to a similar standard again on Wednesday then I think we will give ourselves a good chance of taking something from the game."

The officials

Bobby Madden is the referee on Wednesday night. He is assisted by Dougie Potter and Kevin McElhinney. Euan Anderson is the fourth official.

Ticket Info: St Mirren v Rangers (24th Oct | 12pm)

The decision-making process and outcome regarding the use of the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand for Celtic and Rangers matches is currently ongoing. However, for the upcoming game against Rangers on Sunday 24th October the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand and the North stand have been allocated to the away support. We understand there is frustration along with unanswered questions surrounding the use of the stand for away fans. Please be rest assured that discussions have been taking place at club and board level and with SMiSA members. We are trying to work to a reasonable solution that accommodates everyone, but at this time these conversations are ongoing.

John Needham, Chair of the Board, said: "I share the strength of feeling on this issue and have discussed options with my fellow Directors which would avoid the need for any of our fans to move from their seats for matches in future. The major hurdle is replacing the income generated which is in the region of £120K for the three guaranteed fixtures each season. However, my initial thinking has been well received and I am working on refining the proposals before consulting you, the fans, on whether you would support my idea."

Ticket Sale Arrangements

Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand season ticket holders who buy tickets in the Main or West Stands before 2pm on Friday 22nd October will get them at the reduced price of £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Any Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand season ticket holders who miss the deadline will have to pay the full price of £27 for adults and £17 for concessions.

Saints defeated Livingston (1-0) and Aberdeen (3-2) before the break to move up to seventh place in the cinch Premiership on 10 points.

Ross County go into Saturday's match still searching for their first league win of the season. County have drawn three of their eight league matches to sit in 11th place on three points.

The Staggies have been edged out in their last two league matches - losing 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice and 2-1 away to Motherwell.

Jim Goodwin's men were victorious in both their trips to the Global Energy Stadium in 2020/21. Marcus Fraser and Kristian Dennis scored on the other visit when Saints won 2-0 on Boxing Day 2020.

Ross County's last win against the Buddies was August 2019 when, ironically, Marcus Fraser scored a last-minute winner for the Staggies in a 2-1 win at the Global Energy Stadium.

St Mirren travel through to West Lothian to take on Livingston in the cinch Premiership on Saturday.

The win moved Saints up to eighth place in the cinch Premiership and extended the Buddies' unbeaten run in the league to four matches.

Livingston sit in 10th place in the cinch Premiership - three points behind Saints having won one and drawn one of their seven league fixtures so far this season. David Martindale's side go into Saturday's match having lost 3-0 at Tynecastle last weekend.

Livi were victorious in their last outing at the Tony Macaroni Arena though. Andrew Shinnie scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Celtic less than two weeks ago.

Jim Goodwin's side were victorious on their last league visit to Livingston. Jake Doyle-Hayes scored in a 1-0 win for Saints back in November 2020.

Up next: St Mirren v Aberdeen (26th Sep)

St Mirren get set to host Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon at the SMiSA Stadium as Jim Goodwin's men take on the Dons in cinch Premiership action.

Saints go into Sunday's match having drawn their third league match in a row last Saturday. Joe Shaughnessy's late header earned the Buddies a point at Easter Road in a 2-2 draw with Hibernian. That followed two goalless draws at home against Dundee United and St Johnstone.

Jim Goodwin's side currently sit in 9th place in the cinch Premiership on four points from their opening six matches.

Aberdeen come into Sunday's match following a narrow defeat at home to St Johnstone last weekend. The Dons were edged out 1-0 at Pittodrie in a loss that extended their winless run to seven matches.

Wins against Dundee United and Livingston on the first two weekends of the league season see Aberdeen sitting in seventh place in the cinch Premiership.

Previous

The Buddies took a point at Pittodrie in a 0-0 draw as neither side could be separated back in February in the only meeting between the two in 2021.

That was also the case in the last league meeting at the SMiSA Stadium with Jamie McGrath's penalty cancelling out Jonny Hayes' opener in a 1-1 draw in December.

Both sides did register a win over each other last season with Saints defeating the Dons 2-1 in the Premier Sports Cup. Jamie McGrath scored a late winner in a big win in Jim Goodwin side's run to the semi-final.

Ethan Erhahon scored St Mirren's Goal of the Season last year at Pittodrie in October, but Lewis Ferguson's injury time goal gave Aberdeen a 2-1 win.

Up Next: Hibernian v St Mirren (18th Sep)

St Mirren make the journey to the capital on Saturday as Jim Goodwin's side face Hibernian in the cinch Premiership.

The Buddies head to Easter Road having drawn their previous two league fixtures with games against Dundee United and St Johnstone ending goalless.

Saints go to the capital looking for that first league win of the season. Three draws and two defeats from their opening five cinch Premiership matches see Jim Goodwin's men sitting in 10th place in the league on three points.

Hibs sit in second place in the league having won three and drawn two of their first five. The Hibees come into Saturday's match off the back of a 0-0 draw against rivals Hearts in the Edinburgh derby last Sunday.

Jack Ross' side have won both their home league matches this season - winning 2-0 against Livingston and 3-0 against Ross County last month.

Match Details

Hibernian v St Mirren
Competition: cinch Premiership
Date: Saturday 18th September 2021
Kick-off: 3pm
Venue: Easter Road

Ticket Info

Tickets for Saturday are available at the St Mirren Ticket Office.

Hibernian are also offering PPV at a cost of £15 for those who can't make Saturday's match.

International subscribers to St Mirren TV can watch as part of their subscription.

Previous

Saints were edged out on their only visit to Easter Road last season. Kevin Nisbet's early strike gave Hibernian a 1-0 win back in December 2020.

The only meeting in 2021 thus far was at the SMiSA Stadium in February. Again, Hibernian narrowly defeated Saints - winning 2-1 against the 10-man Buddies.

St Mirren's last league win at Easter Road came in 2014. Adam Campbell and Steven Thompson scored after a Ben Williams own-goal to put Saints 3-0 in front after just 26 minutes. James Collins netted twice for the home side in the second-half, but Saints saw the game out as 3-2 winners.

Adam Campbell nets the second in Saints' 3-2 win over Hibernian in 2014.

Manager's Thoughts

"Hibs are flying. They've started off exactly where they finished the season last year and they're unbeaten in the league. We're under no illusions of how difficult the task is going to be.

"We've got to have our wits about us at the back, but I do genuinely believe we have players in our team that can cause Hibs problems going the other way as well. That's what we have been working on throughout the course of the week and hopefully that will come to fruition at the weekend.

"We're creating good chances and I think we are getting in some good areas. We just need to keep doing the right things and eventually things will fall for us."

The officials

Kevin Clancy is the referee on Saturday. Ralph Gordon and Steven Traynor are his assistants, while Craig Napier is the fourth official.
