Alan Power signs for Saints

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Alan Power on a one-year-deal from Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old Irishman had spent the last four years at Rugby Park after joining the Ayrshire side in 2017 following a six-year stint at Lincoln City.

Power also had spells down south with Nottingham Forest – where he made his senior debut in September 2007 – as well as Hartlepool United and Rushden & Diamonds.

He becomes the club's fifth new signing of the summer and joined up with the squad this morning as they returned to pre-season training ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Speaking to stmirren.com, Alan said: "I'm glad to get it done and dusted.

As soon as I heard there was interest I was pretty excited about it. St Mirren have been progressing over the past couple of years and I knew a good few of the lads.

"I spoke to Greg [Kiltie] quite a bit and it made it a lot easier for me knowing a couple of the boys.

"The gaffer believed in me and hopefully I can bring all the things he wants me to bring to the club.

"The setup here is amazing and it's definitely a club moving in the right direction."

Saints manager Jim Goodwin said: "Alan is a very experienced central midfielder with a wealth of experience in the Premiership.

He'll bring a real bit of steel to the middle of the park which we've lacked since I came back to the club. I feel we've missed that little bit of grit and someone who will go and make tackles and Alan will bring that in abundance.

"I'm really pleased with the work that we've done and I think it shows how hard we've worked from January onwards to get the business done as early as possible."

St Mirren TV subscribers can watch Alan's interview in full on tv.stmirren.com.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE UPDATE

Season 2021/22

Like all St Mirren fans, I am looking forward to the new season beginning.  There is no better build up than to watch the European Championship and see a player like John McGinn, who developed his skills at our Academy and Club, play on the national stage. The Euros show yet again a visible pathway to our current group of players, showing them what is achievable in their careers.

The fixtures released today have given us the opportunity to be brave and hit the ground running in our quest to build on last year’s excellent season and achieve our ambitions.  I do not shy away from the fact I believe we are a top 6 club, and this is once again our motivation for the coming season. The Saints will hopefully take our excellent cup form from last year and go to the next level by bringing home silverware.

I want to extend a warm welcome to our new signings, Charles Dunne, Curtis Main, Greg Kiltie and Scott Tanser.  You are now Saints and ‘in that number’ and we trust you to do the fans proud on the pitch.  The ambition and backing shown to the manager are testament to the club getting it right both on and off the field.

Premier Sports Cup

Our season kicks off with an away day to Dumbarton for the first of our fixtures in the Premier Sports Cup, followed by our first home game against Dunfermline.  Also, an away day to Stenhousemuir before a televised home game against Partick Thistle.  As is now usual, these games will form a significant part of our preseason preparation and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead in this cup competition.

Commercial Partnership

We were delighted to welcome back to the Club, Provan Sports, a name that is well known to the St Mirren family, who will provide the club shop from the 1st July.  This excellent opportunity will bring immediate financial growth which will be reinvested across all areas of the club.  Our new kit will be available to purchase from the 1st July and keep your eyes on our social media channels for exciting news on our kit reveal.

Season tickets

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us to renew or buy a season ticket for season 2021/22, we continue working hard behind the scenes to bring these to you as soon as possible.

For this season we are moving to a new ticketing partner due to historic issues and fans feedback with the old ticketing system which will enhance the purchasing experience.   Due to circumstances out with our control with our previous provider we have not been able to have season tickets on sale up until now.  Further good news is we will be opening an online registration process at the end of this week to allow all current season ticket holders to register onto the new system.  This will allow for renewals of season tickets to take place from Friday 25th June at the early bird price.  We have once again frozen prices for this upcoming season and as you know all additional income raised via the season tickets will be allocated directly to the first team playing budget.  Let’s break our season ticket record and ensure this helps deliver continued success.

Look out for more details on the season ticket registration tomorrow.  I can’t wait to see St Mirren fans back in the stadium, backing the Saints. This upcoming season the only way to guarantee that you will be there is to buy a season ticket.

Take Your Shot Scotland! #Euros2020

Everyone at St Mirren is ecstatic for John McGinn! We wish him and the entire Scotland team the very best of luck ahead of the Euro 2020 campaign.

The club is extremely proud of John McGinn. The youngest of three brothers, McGinn came through the youth ranks at St Mirren before making his debut for the first team in 2012. In his first season he helped the club achieve sensational League Cup success, with starts in the semi-final and final against Celtic and Hearts respectively.

Alongside McGinn, we’d also like to make an honourable mention to Kenny Mclean who played a pivotal role during the qualifiers, helping the National team secure their place in a major tournament for the first time in over 20 years.

Come on Scotland! Let’s do this.

From the St Mirren Academy

To playing for Scotland

Scott Tanser agrees a one year deal

St Mirren Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Scott Tanser on a one-year deal.

The English defender signs with the Buddies after leaving St Johnstone and joins initially on a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

Following spells down south playing in League One and League Two with Rochdale and Port Vale, Tanser spent four years with the Perth side where he would make 139 appearances.

Speaking to stmirren.com after signing, Tanser said: "When the manager called me he was really positive as to what he wants to achieve at the club, and I was sold with what he had to say. He showed a lot of interest in me and obviously I want to be with a manager who wants to bring me to a club.

"I've played with Joe and Jak so it always makes it feel more comfortable and they'll help me settle in. I'm feeling good and excited to get the deal done, to get going now and get joined up with the lads."

Saints manager Jim Goodwin said: "Scott Tanser is one who knows the league and has been outstanding at left-wing back for St. Johnstone this season. He’s a very good athlete, great delivery, he was instrumental in some of the really good performances that St. Johnstone had.

"I’ve been speaking to Scott since January time, really with him and his agent trying to get something done and I’m delighted that today he has agreed to come in.

"We have managed to sell it to him with regards of where we believe we are going, obviously he’s leaving a very successful team in St. Johnstone, they will be disappointed to lose him no doubt, we feel we are a club that’s going places and Scott believes that too.

"He’s a great athlete, great energy up and down the left-hand side of the park and will not only do well in the defensive areas, but very creative up the top end as well with some of his deliveries that he puts in the box."

Greg Kiltie agrees two-year deal

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Greg Kiltie on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old becomes Saints’ third signing of the summer transfer window following the expiry of his contract at Kilmarnock.

Kiltie began his career at the Ayrshire side and, ironically, made his senior debut against St Mirren as a 16-year-old.

The midfielder would go on to make over 100 appearances for Kilmarnock as well as having loan spells at Queen of the South, Morton and Dunfermline.

Speaking to stmirren.com after signing his deal, Kiltie said: "I spoke to the manager and he explained about the club and it's the right fit.

"The club sells itself. It's a very good club and showing ambition in terms of where it wants to get to as well.

"I play in front of the midfield and try to create opportunities or chip in with some goals so that's hopefully what I can do.

"I can't wait to get back at it with a new challenge ahead. I'm delighted to be here and can't wait to get going."

Jim Goodwin said: "Greg is a really good young player.

"He has had a really good season in a Kilmarnock team that has struggled, to be perfectly honest.

"He’s very creative, very direct, and positive in his thinking when he receives the ball, he wants to go forward, he wants to get shots off and tries to create good goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates around him.

"It’s another good character and we have great references on him, he is a pleasure to work with by all accounts, so I am really looking forward to getting him and to work closely with him as soon as pre-season starts next week.

"Not only will he assist goals but hopefully he’ll chip in with his fair share as well. We certainly saw that at close quarters in recent games where I thought he was excellent against us."

Curtis Main joins St Mirren

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Curtis Main on a two-year deal.

The Englishman began his career at Darlington before winning a move to Middlesbrough. He had further spells down south with Shrewsbury Town, Doncaster Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Portsmouth before joining Motherwell in 2018.

Main helped Motherwell reach the 2018 Scottish Cup final with two goals in a 3-0 win over Aberdeen in the semi-final.

His form at the Steelmen helped him win a move to the Dons where he featured 42 times and scored seven goals. In January of this year, Main re-joined Shrewsbury on a short-term deal. Main is now a Buddie until summer 2023 after agreeing his two-year deal.

Speaking to St Mirren TV after completing the move, Main said: "I’m really excited to be here.

"I’ve spoken to the manager on numerous occasions over the last couple of months and I’m finally here and looking forward to the challenge.

"The manager wanted to bring me to the club to do what he knows I’m capable of doing. Having that backing and belief from the manager is a key thing for anyone coming into the club.

"I’ll always give everything. I’m quick, strong and powerful and I love to win."

Saints manager Jim Goodwin said: "Curtis is a physical, strong centre-forward who will be a great addition to the squad and gives me four very good strikers now to choose from with Brophy, Dennis, and Erwin as well.

"I’m really pleased to get Curtis in,” he continued.

"He’s the right character for us as well, he’s the right temperament and a real leader both on and off the pitch. I’m just delighted we are able to get it over the line to be honest."
