St Mirren's 2026/27 pre-season schedule began with a 4-2 win away to Arbroath.
The Red Litchies took an early lead through Ryan Dow, but Roland Idowu's double gave the Buddies the advantage at the break. The entire Saints lineup was changed for the second-half with Jayden Richardson and Theo McCormick netting after the restart.
The hosts found themselves ahead on 16 minutes when Dow raced on to a long ball before slotting into the left-hand corner of the net.
Saints drew level just four minutes later when Idowu netted his first from the spot. The Irishman was fouled inside the area and he rolled home the penalty to equalise.
Good footwork from Idowu saw the forward fashion himself another opportunity three minutes later. He jinked into the box before lashing low into the arms of Aidan McAdams in the Arbroath goal. Idowu wouldn't be denied after the half hour mark when he raced onto a pass, broke through Red Litchies defence and slammed beyond McAdams.
Luke Douglas almost added a third for Saints on 37 minutes. The forward did so well to create the space for himself before seeing his low drive denied by McAdams at full stretch.
The entire Saints 11 was changed at the interval by manager Craig McLeish. The Buddies came close to making it 3-1 less than two minutes after the restart when Innes Clark got his head on the end of a Declan John corner, but he bulleted just over.
Saints would extend their lead further 10 minutes into the second-half with Richardson firing high into the top left-corner of the next beyond Arbroath's substitute goalkeeper Jordan Pettigrew. Three minutes later the Buddies added a fourth after a lovely passage of play. Fraser Taylor threaded the ball through to Theo McCormick who slotted into the net.

While that would round off the scoring for Saints, McLeish's men still created a number of opportunities in the final part of the game. Chris Mochrie had a shot blocked on the line with 15 minutes remaining when he was quickest to react to Jalmaro Calvin's blocked header. Richardson fired wide four minutes later, while Jake Young lashed over on 80 minutes.
Gavin Reilly pulled a goal back in the final minute of normal time when the former Saints man nodded home a cross from the right-hand side in the final act of the match.
