Match Preview: St Mirren v Hibernian (26th Nov)

It's home again for Saints as we host Hibernian in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

FORM

St Mirren - WLLLWL

Hibernian - WWLDDD

St Mirren are looking to make it two wins on the bounce for the first time this season following Saturday's 2-1 win over Ross County.

The Buddies fell behind to Brian Graham's 24th minute strike, but Sean McLoughlin scored his first St Mirren goal on the edge of half-time to draw Saints level. With just a few minutes of the match remaining, Sam Foley sealed three valuable points for Jim Goodwin's side with a terrific finish from 18 yards.

Brian Graham's goal was just the second Saints have conceded at home in the league this season and was the first goal conceded at home in the league from open play since a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone in April.

Saturday's win made it three wins from six at home in the league for the Buddies this season and two from the last two.

Hibernian come into tonight's match having won their last two matches. Jack Ross, appointed Hibernian manager last week, led his side to a 3-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday in his first match in charge. That win came off the back of an impressive 4-1 win away to St Johnstone before the international break.

PREVIOUS

Saints were narrowly beaten by a late Scott Allan goal when the sides met on the opening day of the 2019/20 season at Easter Road.

The Buddies looked good value for a point but, with less than five minutes remaining, Allan netted a winner for the home side.

Hibernian were victorious on both of their visits to Paisley last season - winning 1-0 in September 2018 and 3-1 in January 2019.

St Mirren's last win over Hibernian came at the Simple Digital Arena in March 2017. Stelios Demetriou scored either side of half-time to give Saints an important 2-0 win as we went on to complete the 'great escape' and avoid relegation to League One.

FAMILIAR FACES

The Edinburgh side will bring a number of familiar faces to Paisley this evening.

Hibernian manager Jack Ross spent two years at St Mirren as a player and managed the Buddies to the Ladbrokes Championship title and promotion to the Premiership in 2018. He is assisted at the Hibees by another ex-Buddie, John Potter.

The Hibernian playing squad also boasts a number of ex-Saints with St Mirren Youth Academy graduates Jason Naismith and Stevie Mallan among their ranks as well as Darren McGregor.

ONES TO WATCH

After a slow start to life at Hibernian, Christian Doidge has hit form in recent weeks scoring four goals in his last two games which includes a hat-trick in the 4-1 win at St Johnstone.

Scott Allan has impressed at Easter Road since rejoining the Edinburgh side from Celtic in the summer. It was Allan who hit the winner when the sides last met on the opening day of the season.

TEAM NEWS

Only Kirk Broadfoot is out for Saints.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"Hibs are a very good team and have obviously had a really good lift with Jack going into the club as well. They have got a really big squad and have got a lot of quality to choose from so we'll have to make sure we are at it.

"Jack is a good guy. He has a good manner about him, we are very similar in terms of how we want to play the game. Hopefully that will make for a very good and very entertaining game.

"I hope the fans give him a warm welcome because I think he deserves that. But as soon as the referee blows that whistle and the game kicks off it is important to remember that he is the enemy after that and we want to try and make his night as difficult as possible."

Match Preview: St Mirren v Ross County (23rd Nov)

St Mirren are back in action at the Simple Digital Arena on Saturday for the first time in over a month as we play host to Ross County.

FORM

St Mirren - LLLWLD

Ross County - LDLDLD

St Mirren return from the last international break of 2019 to face Ross County in our first home match since beating St Johnstone 2-0 on October 19th.

Jon Obika and Danny Mullen scored their first league goals of the season as the Buddies came out on top in the battle of the Saints last month.

Since then, the Buddies have faced three away trips - losing to Kilmarnock (0-1), Celtic (0-2) and Hearts (2-5).

While the away form has been a source of frustration for Saints, the home form has been good this season with two wins, two draws and one defeat from our first five home league matches of the season.

Indeed, the Buddies have only lost two home league matches since the end of March - 2-0 to Celtic in April and 1-0 to Rangers in August.

Ross County come into tomorrow's match in sixth place in the league with 14 points, but Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson's side have failed to win in their last seven matches.

The last time the Staggies took three points was during a trip to Motherwell in September where goals from Brian Graham and Ross Stewart saw them win 2-1 at Fir Park.

PREVIOUS

An injury time goal from Marcus Fraser gave Ross County all three points when both sides met in Dingwall in the Ladbrokes Premiership in September.

It was a frustrating and controversial afternoon for Saints who had a Jon Obika goal ruled out for offside in the first half despite replays showing the striker was onside.

Tony Andreu's first St Mirren goal had gotten the Buddies level after ex-Saint Ross Stewart had given the Staggies a second-half lead. But with the last kick of the match County captain Fraser ensured the points stayed in Dingwall.

County were also victorious the last time they visited Paisley - in April 2015 - with Liam Boyce's hat-trick giving them a vital 3-0 win as they went on to escape relegation.

Saints have won in two of their last three visits to Dingwall, but the last home win over County was in May 2014 when Gregg Wylde's goal saw the Buddies win 1-0.

The Buddies have taken on Ross County 17 times at home since their first meeting at the turn of the century. In those 17 matches, Saints have defeated the Highland side nine times, drawn five and lost just three.

TEAM NEWS

Cody Cooke is back fit after a long-spell on the sideline and could be named in the squad while Kyle McAllister is also in contention after missing Saints' last five league matches.

Kirk Broadfoot will miss out after injuring his foot in the Buddies loss to Hearts before the international break.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"I played against County last year in the Championship with Alloa. They were building a team that was going to be capable of competing in the Premiership so it hasn't surprised me the points they have picked up.

"They have some very good attacking players with good experience in there. Billy McKay is proven at this level, so is Michael Gardyne and Ross Stewart has taken a lot of plaudits as well.

"We have to be at it defensively and if we are not those players can hurt you. But we believe that we have got players up the other end that can cause Ross County problems and hopefully that will make for an entertaining game."

Match Preview: Hearts v St Mirren (9th Nov)

St Mirren are off to Scotland's capital tomorrow afternoon as Jim Goodwin's side face managerless Hearts at Tynecastle.

FORM

St Mirren - LLWLDD

Hearts - LLDDLD

Results last midweek saw St Mirren fall to the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The Buddies, who weren't in action at the weekend due to a fixture clash with the Betfred Cup semi-final, lost 2-0 to Celtic at Celtic Park last Wednesday. That result, coupled with a 1-0 defeat away to St Johnstone for Hearts, a loss that saw them part company with Craig Levein as manager, and a 2-2 draw for Hibernian against Livingston, saw Saints finish the evening in 12th place.

Jim Goodwin's side have yet to take a point on the road this season, but have only lost two of those six away games by more than one goal.

The Jambos sit level on points with Saints, but are one place above due to goal difference. They have failed to win in their last six and have won just once in the league this season - a 2-1 victory at Easter Road in the Edinburgh derby back in September.

Austin McPhee is in temporary charge of the Edinburgh side following the Levein's departure but he couldn't help Hearts book a place in the Betfred Cup final last Sunday as they lost 3-0 to Rangers at Hampden.

A win for either side tomorrow could see them move up to eighth in the league depending on results elsewhere.

PREVIOUS

St Mirren have already taken on Hearts this season. The two were unable to be separated in a 0-0 draw at the Simple Digital Arena in the Ladbrokes Premiership at the end of September.

The Buddies last visit to Tynecastle was in February of this year with Saints coming from behind to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw.

St Mirren's last win against Hearts was in November 2018 as a double from Adam Hammill gave the Buddies a 2-0 win at the Simple Digital Arena. While our last win at Tynecastle came back in October 2013 with John McGinn and Paul McGowan on the scoresheet as Saints won 2-0.

Hearts last win over Saints came in the first meeting of the two at Tynecastle last season. Steven Naismith scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win for the hosts in August 2018.

TEAM NEWS

Cody Cooke played 60 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday afternoon and could make the squad for the first time since July.

However, the match will come too soon for Kyle McAllister. The manager does, however, expect the winger to be available for the upcoming Ross County match.

Craig Halkett remains out for the hosts having come off injured the last time the Jambos faced Saints. Ben Garuccio, John Souttar, Jake Mulraney and Connor Washington are also out.

Steven Naismith made his Hearts return as a substitute in Sunday's loss to Rangers.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"We've not had a good enough points return from the opening round of games and we've got to try and improve on that in the second round of games. That's starts this Saturday at Tynecastle.

"The league is extremely tight and I think it is going to remain that way right till the end. I think that sixth place in the top half will be up for grabs and I think it's going to be very exciting for a number of us.

"We have to start picking up points on the road. Our away form has been poor and we'll look to do something about that this weekend.

"It's always a great away day. It's always a good atmosphere, the pitch is always in good condition and our boys will certainly look forward to it."

Match Preview: Celtic v St Mirren (30th Oct)

Saints are off to Celtic Park this evening to face Celtic in the second of three consecutive away matches.

FORM

St Mirren - LWLDDL

Celtic - WWWLWD

St Mirren sit in 10th place in the league having picked up eight points from our opening 10 matches, but have yet to pick up a point on the road this season.

The Buddies have suffered narrow losses to Hibernian (0-1), Livingston (1-2), Ross County (1-2), Motherwell (0-2) and Kilmarnock (0-1) on our travels this season.

Celtic currently sit top of the league having picked up 25 points from their opening 10 matches.

The Hoops come into tonight's match on the back of a 4-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday that kept them ahead of Rangers at the top on goal difference.

Neil Lennon's side have won every game at home in the league this season defeating St Johnstone (7-0), Hearts (3-1), Kilmarnock (3-1) and Ross County (6-0).

Celtic's last defeat at Celtic Park was in August when they lost 4-3 to Romanian side CFR Cluj in Champions League qualifying, while their last league defeat at home came in May 2018 when they lost 1-0 to Aberdeen on the final day of the season.

PREVIOUS

St Mirren last picked up a point at Celtic Park almost 12 years ago in a 1-1 draw in December 2007.

Current Saints captain Stephen McGinn gave the Buddies the lead on 74 minutes, but Saints were denied all three points by a Derek Riordan equaliser with five minutes remaining.

Our last win at Celtic Park came in April 1990. Tony Fitzpatrick was manager as the Buddies ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Guni Torfason, Geordie Shaw and Paul Lambert.

The Buddies last point against Celtic was at the Simple Digital in the 0-0 draw in September 2018, while our last win over Celtic was the 3-2 triumph in the League Cup semi-final in January 2013.

Saints travelled to Celtic Park once last season, losing 4-0 in January of this year. Celtic were the victors the last time the teams came head-to-head, winning 2-0 at the Simple Digital Arena in April.

TEAM NEWS

Calum Waters returns to the squad after missing last weekend's trip to Kilmarnock due to his loan agreement.

Gary MacKenzie could also return to the squad after missing out on Saturday.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"Celtic are in great form. We know how good a side they are but we have to be positive and believe we can take something from the game otherwise what is the point.

"It's a game where you know Celtic are going to dominate possession. They are games that concentration is massive because of their movement, their rotation, they way that they break and we need to make sure that we are plugging holes at times, filling in for each other and trying to get in Celtic's faces as much as we can.

"It would be a great way for us to get our first point on the road on the board and we have to believe that we are capable of doing that."

Match Preview: Kilmarnock v St Mirren (26th Oct)

St Mirren head down to Rugby Park tomorrow to face Kilmarnock on match day 10 of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

FORM

A 2-0 win over St Johnstone last weekend gave Saints their first league since August and moved Jim Goodwin's side up to ninth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The Buddies have picked up eight points from their nine league matches this season with wins over Aberdeen & St Johnstone and draws against Hamilton and Hearts.

After a slow start to the season, Kilmarnock have picked up form sitting in fifth place in the league with 14 points.

Angelo Alessio's side are unbeaten in their last three Premiership matches - drawing 0-0 with Ross County at the end of September before winning 1-0 away to Hearts and 2-1 at home against Livingston this month.

PREVIOUS

It was Rugby Park where St Mirren's 2018/19 season began last year in the Betfred Cup.

The Buddies picked up a point after a battling 0-0 draw, before winning the resultant penalty shoot-out to earn a bonus point.

However, Saints were edged out by Kilmarnock in all three league meetings between the two last season.

Saints' first league clash with Kilmarnock last season ended in controversial fashion. Adam Hammill had given St Mirren the lead before Alan Power equalised in the second-half. Aaron Tshibola's winner was questionable as there were doubts as to whether the ball crossed the line, while Simeon Jackson had a goal disallowed for offside as Saints looked for a leveller.

2-1 was the scoreline when St Mirren went to Rugby Park the last time for league duty. Early goals from Stuart Findlay and Jordan Jones gave the Ayrshire side the points despite Simeon Jackson pulling a goal back. A late Liam Millar goal gave Killie a 1-0 win in March - the last time the two sides met.

The Buddies' last win at Rugby Park came on the final day of the 2012/13 season with John McGinn, Paul McGowan and Conor Newton scoring in a 3-1 victory, while the last win over Kilmarnock was in April 2015 at the Simple Digital Arena as St Mirren ran out 4-1 winners.

TEAM NEWS

Calum Waters is unavailable for selection due to his loan agreement with Kilmarnock.

Ryan Flynn could return to the squad after missing last weekend's win over St Johnstone with an injury, while Kyle McAllister is "touch and go" after missing out in Saints' last two matches with a back injury. Cody Cooke is back in full training, but tomorrow is still likely to be too soon for the English forward.

Ex-Saint Simeon Jackson could make his Kilmarnock debut tomorrow after signing for the club on a short-term deal earlier this month.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"The away form hasn't been good enough and for as tight and as unwilling as we've been to give anything away at home, we've been giving too many goals away from home. Hopefully we can do something about that at the weekend.

"Another clean sheet would be great and if we can be as creative and as free-flowing in the forward areas as we were in the second-half against St Johnstone then hopefully that will put a stop to that.

"Kilmarnock got off to a slow start there's no getting away from that, but they've certainly picked up some really important results now.

"I don't think they get the credit they deserve at times. They are a better footballing team than people make out.

"It's going to make for a very difficult task on Saturday. It's two very organised, hard to beat teams."

Match Preview: St Mirren v St Johnstone (19th Oct)

Saints are back in action following the international break as we host St Johnstone at the Simple Digital Arena tomorrow.

FORM

St Mirren currently occupy 11th place - one point above tomorrow's opponents.

The Buddies have picked up five points from the opening eight league matches after a 1-0 win over Aberdeen in August and 0-0 draws with both Hamilton and Hearts.

Jim Goodwin's side come into tomorrow's match on the back of a 2-0 loss away to Motherwell before the international break.

St Johnstone sit bottom of the table having yet to win a league match this season.

Tommy Wright's side have drawn four of their eight league matches, picking up their points against Livingston (2-2), Hibernian (2-2), Aberdeen (1-1) and Ross County (2-2).

Three of their four points have come on the road, with the Perth Saints having only lost one of four away league matches this season - a 7-0 defeat at Celtic Park on the opening day of the season.

PREVIOUS

St Mirren and St Johnstone squared off four times last season with the Perth Saints winning three of the four meetings.

There were two wins at McDiarmid Park for St Johnstone (2-0, 1-0) and a win in Paisley on Boxing Day 2018 (1-0).

Danny Mullen's last minute volley sealed at point at the Simple Digital Arena in a 1-1 draw the last time the two teams faced each other.

St Mirren's last home win against St Johnstone came in 2013 as the Buddies came out on top in a seven-goal thriller.

TEAM NEWS

Cody Cooke is back in training for the Buddies, but tomorrow's match comes too soon for the English striker.

Kyle McAllister remains out with a back injury that forced him to miss the match against Motherwell before the international break.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"It's going to be a really difficult game against St Johnstone who are a good side and it's a really important game for us.

"Tommy Wright's teams are renowned for their organisation and their hard work and I expect nothing different at the weekend.

"I watched a few of their games back last week. Although they lost 1-0 at home to Motherwell recently I thought they deserved to win the game. They created more opportunities, had more shots on target and created the more clear cut chances on the day.

"I certainly believe there are things we can exploit in the St Johnstone defence but I think we need to be very wary of them in an attacking perspective as well. They have some really good attacking players, some very dangerous players and they've got good pace in the team as well.

"We will have to be as organised and as switched on as we have been defensively at home, but hopefully we can exploit the weaknesses that we think are there and use that to our advantage at the weekend."

Match Preview: Motherwell v St Mirren (5th October)

St Mirren travel to Lanarkshire tomorrow afternoon to take on Motherwell in our final match before the October international break.

FORM

Jim Goodwin's side have picked up five points from their opening seven Ladbrokes Premiership fixtures.

A 1-0 win over Aberdeen on matchday two gave Saints their first points of the season which have been followed up in recent weeks by draws at home with Hamilton and Hearts.

Indeed, the Buddies are unbeaten in their last two having drawn 0-0 with both Hamilton and Hearts at home in the last two weeks. Those draws put to an end a three game losing streak where Saints were narrowly edged out by Rangers (0-1), Livingston (1-2) and Ross County (1-2).

Motherwell have gotten off to a good start to their campaign and sit in third place in the league behind Celtic and Rangers with 13 points from a possible 21.

They come into tomorrow's match having won four of their last five in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Stephen Robinson's side defeated St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park last Saturday thanks to Devante Cole's first-half strike. Well goalkeeper Mark Gillespie saved a second-half penalty from Scott Tanser to secure three points.

The Steelmen, however, have lost two of their three home league matches so far this season - a 5-2 loss to Celtic and a 2-1 defeat to Ross County.

PREVIOUS

Saints were unbeaten on their two trips to Fir Park last season - winning once and drawing the other.

Simeon Jackson's goal secured the Buddies a 1-0 win in Lanarkshire when we visited three days before Christmas 2018, while a Kyle Magennis' injury time effort rescued a point in a 1-1 draw in Saints' last visit in May.

Motherwell were victorious on both of their visits to Paisley last season - winning 2-0 and 2-1.

TEAM NEWS

Only Cody Cooke is out for Saints, but the striker is making good progress as he looks to return from a knee injury.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"It's always an away day I enjoyed as a player and I'm looking forward to taking the boys there as manager.

"They've had a fantastic start to the season and I think they have won four of their last five games.

"They are very well organised at the back and carry a real attacking threat going forward.

"We've worked hard during the week, the players have been excellent and there's been a real buzz about the place.

"We know ourselves we need to do more in the final third and hopefully you'll see some of the work we've done during the week come to fruition on Saturday."

Match Preview: St Mirren v Hearts (28th Sep)

Saints play host to Hearts in the Ladbrokes Premiership this afternoon.

The Edinburgh side make the journey across the M8 to face Saints at the Simple Digital Arena.

FORM

St Mirren come into today's match on the back of last weekend's 0-0 draw against Hamilton Academical at the Simple Digital Arena.

The Buddies were on top that afternoon but couldn't breakdown a stuffy Hamilton defence and had to settle for a point.

Jim Goodwin's side sit in 10th place in the league having picked up four points from our opening six league matches.

Hearts are in 8th place - a point above Saints.

The Jambos picked up their first league win of the season last Sunday as they came from behind to beat rivals Hibernian 2-1 at Easter Road in the Edinburgh derby.

Ex-Saint Stevie Mallan put Hearts behind, but late goals from Uche Ikpeazu and Aaron Hickey gave Craig Levein's side the Edinburgh bragging rights.

PREVIOUS

The two sides came up against each other three times last season with each side trading a win.

The first meeting last season saw Hearts run out 4-1 winners at Tynecastle with Steven Naismith scoring a first-half hat-trick for the Jambos.

The Buddies were triumphant when Craig Levein's side made the journey to Paisley last November. Adam Hammill's wonder-strike had Saints in front just after the break and the Englishman notched again less than 10 minutes later to give us a 2-0 win.

The only meeting between the two sides in 2019 came back in February where it was a share of the spoils at Tynecastle. Clevid Dikamona gave the hosts the lead, but an own-goal from Sean Clare earned Saints a well deserved point in the capital.

Saints are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Hearts with the last defeat at home to the Jambos coming in 2012.

Since that loss, the Buddies have won three - all by a 2-0 scoreline - and drawn two - both finishing 1-1.

TEAM NEWS

Gary MacKenzie returns to the squad after missing last weekend's draw with Hamilton, but Cody Cooke remains out.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"I went to the derby on Sunday and went through to Tynecastle to watch them against Aberdeen. I thought in both games they were excellent and thought they were the better team on both occasions.

"They are a very good side. They have some good strength in depth, they have players that can certainly cause you problems at the back.

"They had probably been lacking in confidence over the last couple of weeks but I think certainly those results that they have picked up in the last few days will have given them a lot of hope and a lot of belief."

Match Preview: St Mirren v Hamilton (21st September)

St Mirren host Hamilton Academical at the Simple Digital Arena tomorrow afternoon in matchday six of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

FORM

Saints' return from the international break saw them head to Dingwall last weekend to face Ross County.

The Buddies were edged out by an injury time goal from Marcus Fraser who gave the Staggies a 2-1 win. Ex-Saint Ross Stewart had given County the lead before Tony Andreu equalised with his first goal for Saints. But County captain Fraser popped up at the end to give the home side all the points.

Jim Goodwin's side sit in 10th place in the Ladbrokes Premiership with one win from our opening five matches. That was a 1-0 win against Aberdeen at the Simple Digital Arena in August with Ilkay Durmus' early goal enough to get Saints off and running for the season.

Tomorrow's opponents sit one point above Saints in the league having won one and drawn one of their opening five league matches.

Accies four points have come from a 2-0 win at home to Kilmarnock and a 2-2 draw away to Hearts.

Brian Rice's side come into tomorrow's match having lost 1-0 at home to league leaders Celtic last week.

PREVIOUS

The two sides met four times last season with Saints winning once, Hamilton winning twice and the other ending in a draw.

The last match between the two came in May as both battled for Ladbrokes Premiership survival. Kyle McAllister and Kyle Magennis netted late in the second-half to give St Mirren a 2-0 win at the Simple Digital Arena.

The only other meeting in 2019 saw the Buddies pick up a point at the FOYS Stadium when Anders Dreyer's penalty-kick earned us a point in a 1-1 draw.

Accies last win against Saints came at the Simple Digital Arena last December. First-half goals from Dougie Imrie and Ziggy Gordon had the visitors 2-0 in front. Stephen McGinn pulled a goal back for the Buddies right on the stroke of half-time to hand us a lifeline, but James Keatings netted 10 minutes after the break to seal a 3-1 win for the Lanarkshire side.

TEAM NEWS

Gary MacKenzie will miss out after a head knock at Ross County last weekend, while Cody Cooke remains sidelined due to a long-term injury.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"We'll go about it the way we always do. We have prepared properly during the week and we'll give Hamilton all the respect they deserve. They are a well-organised, hard-working team and it's obviously a big game.

"We are going into the game off of three narrow defeats which is never ideal. But I think the previous results could easily have been different.

"We need to be a bit more creative. We need to use our imagination a little bit more in the final third.

"We aren't having enough shots on target, we aren't getting enough crosses into the box so therefore we aren't getting the end product which is the goal.

"That's up to me as manager to work on that in the training ground and make sure we do something about it."

Match Preview: Ross County v St Mirren (14th Sep 2019)

St Mirren are back following the international break as Jim Goodwin's side make the trip up to Dingwall to face Ross County in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

FORM

The Buddies go into tomorrow's match on the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Livingston before the break.

Kyle Magennis pulled a goal back with a terrific strike from the edge of the area, but it wasn't enough to grab a share of the spoils after Alan Lithgow and Lyndon Dykes had the home side 2-0 ahead.

Saints have yet to win on the road this season with our last win away from Paisley coming at the end of last season when we defeated Dundee 3-2 at Dens Park.

The Buddies currently sit in 10th place in the Ladbrokes Premiership with three points from our opening four matches.

Newly promoted County are in 8th in the league - a point above Saints, having won one and drawn one of their first four.

A 3-0 win over Hamilton at the Global Energy Stadium on the opening day was followed up by a 0-0 draw at Tynecastle against Hearts.

But, like Saints, the Highland side have lost their last two in the league with a 4-1 defeat at home to Livingston followed up by a 3-0 loss away to Aberdeen, while they lost 3-2 to Partick Thistle in the Betfred Cup.

PREVIOUS

This will be the first time the two sides have met in over four years since Saints defeated County 2-1 in Dingwall in May 2015.

Martin Woods put Ross County in front that afternoon, but Stevie Mallan has the Buddies level less than 10 minutes later. Steven Thompson scored a 91st minute penalty to give St Mirren the win.

The previous visit in January 2015 saw the Buddies also win 2-1 despite Yoann Arquin being sent off for Saints in the first-half.

Ross County's last win over Saints was sandwiched between those clashes when Liam Boyce's hat-trick gave the Staggies a 3-0 win in Paisley in April 2015.

TEAM NEWS

Only Cody Cooke remains sidelined due to a long-term injury with everyone else available for selection.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"The incentive is that if we win the game we can jump above Ross County and maybe one or two others as well.

"I know Ross County well from last year having played against them with Alloa in the Championship. It's a very similar squad to that.

"They really went for it last year in terms of the quality of players that they brought in. They were building a team for the Premiership and it's no surprise to me that they've stuck with squad that they built last year.

"They are a group that's been together for a while now so they all know the ins and outs and they all know what the managers are asking of them.

"The two managers up there are doing a fantastic job."
