The curtain came down on the 2022/23 with Saints beaten 3-0 by Rangers at The SMiSA Stadium. 

It had an end of season feel to it with both sides making changes to their starting eleven. Stephen Robinson handed first starts to Caolan Boyd-Munce and Lewis Jamieson, while Peter Urminsky made his first league start. Declan Gallagher also came into the side in place of Marcus Fraser.

Fraser would be subbed on with just eight minutes played to replace Ryan Strain went down with an injury and had to be taken off. 

Curtis Main had the Buddies' first opportunity on 16 minutes after he drove forward, but he lashed his effort from distance well over the bar. Rangers opened the scoring 10 minutes later when Fashion Sakala squeezed home from close-range. The Rangers forward ghosted in beyond Fraser to collect a through ball from Ridvan Yilmaz before weaving his way past two Saints defenders. He struck towards the far corner and it only just squirmed through the legs of Scott Tanser before rolling into the net. 

Saints reacted well though with Mark O'Hara's powerful header being held by Robby McCrorie on 29 minutes. Main was inches away from connecting with a low Jamieson cross just a few minutes later, but caught McCrorie late and was shown the first booking of the match. 

Jamieson had a decent opportunity not long after the break when Keanu Baccus' quick thinking saw him prod the ball through to the St Mirren Youth Academy graduate after the referee didn't give a foul for a challenge on Main. Jamieson cut in on his left foot but fired wide from 20 yards. And Rangers doubled their lead less than a minute later when Sakala picked up the ball deep in the Saints half and drove forward. He cut through the Saints defence and shot from 20 yards with the effort squirming underneath Urminsky to make it 2-0. 

The manager made a double change on the hour mark with Greg Kiltie and Kieran Offord introduced to the fray in place of Boyd-Munce and Jamieson. The substitutes combined within two minutes when Kiltie's low ball into the box picked out Offord. The forward took one too many touches though which allowed Rangers to snuff out the danger. Kiltie was involved again moments later when his dangerous corner wasn't dealt with by McCrorie who flapped at the ball. Richard Taylor was in at the back post but sliced his effort sending it wide. 

The visitors added a third with 12 minutes left with substitute Antonio Colak heading home from close range to finish the scoring. 

A disappointing result on the final day, but it won't overshadow what has been a good season for the Buddies. The players walked round the park following the final whistle to applaud supporters and mark our strongest top-flight finish since 1985.

Season 2022/23 draws to a close at The SMiSA Stadium on Saturday as St Mirren host Rangers on the final day. 

Both sides know their fate as the season comes to an end with Saints finishing in sixth place - our highest top-flight finish since 1985 - and Rangers in second. 

In our post-split fixtures Saints have drawn with Hearts (2-2) and Celtic (2-2) and lost to Hibernian (1-2) and Aberdeen (0-3). 

Rangers have won three and drawn one of their post-split fixtures. Michael Beale's side defeated Aberdeen (1-0), Celtic (3-0) and Hibernian (3-1) as well as drawing 2-2 with Hearts.

Previous

Saints were held to a 1-1 draw the last time Rangers visited Paisley. Jonah Ayunga's early second-half goal put us in front, but a late James Tavernier penalty saw the Ibrox side take a point. 

The Buddies came within 10 minutes of taking a point when we last played Rangers in April. Two Mark O'Hara goals had the game poised at 2-2, but three late goals saw Rangers come away with a 5-2 victory at Ibrox. 

Our last home win over the Light Blues came in December 2020 when we knocked the Ibrox side out of the League Cup with a dramatic late Conor McCarthy goal seeing us win 3-2 at The SMiSA Stadium.

10-men Saints fell to a 3-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie with Thierry Small shown a straight red card in the first-half following VAR intervention.

The result - coupled with Hibernian's win over Celtic - means the Buddies finish the season in sixth place. While there will be disappointment tonight, a historic season - in which we finished in the top six for the first time in this format - represents our highest top-flight finish since 1985. 

Despite doubts over the fitness of Small and Curtis Main both managed to make it and Stephen Robinson named the same starting eleven that drew 2-2 with Celtic on Saturday. 

Aberdeen took the lead on 14 minutes when Leighton Clarkson despatched a free-kick into the net from 20 yards.

Saints best chance for an equaliser came less than 10 minutes later when Alex Gogic rose to meet a Small cross. The Cypriot midfielder's header forced a good one-handed save from Dons goalkeeper Kelle Roos who tipped over. Gogic was first on to the resultant corner, but nodded wide. 

St Mirren's hopes of finding an equaliser were dealt a major blow when Small was shown red after a VAR check following a foul on Bojan Miovski who had to be stretchered off. Initially the loanee was shown yellow, but referee Don Robertson consulted the monitor and upgraded to red which Saints could have no complaints about.

Aberdeen almost hit Saints on the counter with 10 minutes of the half remaining. Duk ran clear but had his effort saved by Carson. The Saints goalkeeper couldn't gather at the first attempt and had to be quick to deny the follow-up. 

The Dons did double their lead on 42 minutes with Graeme Shinnie heading home to make it two-nil. Carson had to push away Joe Shaughnessy's deflection of a Marley Watkins' cross, but the ball spun up in the air which allowed Shinnie to nod into the net. 

Shinnie added his second and Aberdeen's third just four minutes into the second-half. The Dons midfielder met a low ball in from Ylber Ramadani and forced under Carson.

Saints first opportunity of the second-half came just after the hour mark when a strong run from half-time substitute Kieran Offord saw the young forward fouled 25 yards from goal. Strain stepped up to take the free-kick but Roos was down well to gather. 

Main could have pulled one back with just over 20 minutes of time remaining when he raced on to a Gogic ball over the top and went one-on-one with Roos. The forward's effort was powerful but the Dons keeper stayed big to block. Mark O'Hara was next to test Roos with a long-range drive that Roos had to get both hands behind to push away. That was to be the last opportunity for either side as the Dons picked up the points.

Stephen Robinson reflects on defeat at Pittodrie.

St Mirren will travel to Belfast once again this summer for a pre-season training camp in preparation for season 2023/24.

Stephen Robinson’s men visited Belfast last summer and return to Northern Ireland as we aim to build on a successful 2022/23 campaign.

As well as the training camp, Saints will face off against NIFL Premiership clubs Glentoran and Linfield in two friendly matches.

The Buddies will face Glentoran on Wednesday 28th June at Blanchflower Stadium as part of Glentoran player Marcus Kane's testimonial. It's then a testimonial for Linfield player Niall Quinn when we face the Blues at Windsor Park on Saturday 1st July.

Match tickets for the two matches will be priced each at £10 for adults and £5 for kids/concessions with full details on how to purchase announced in due course.

It's our final away match of the 2022/23 season as Saints travel to Pittodrie on Wednesday night to face Aberdeen in the cinch Premiership.

Stephen Robinson's men picked up a well-deserved point at Celtic Park on Saturday with Curtis Main's double seeing us draw 2-2 with the champions. That put the Buddies within two points of fifth place Hibernian going into the final two matches.

Aberdeen sit in third place in the cinch Premiership and sit two points above Hearts despite a 2-1 defeat to the Jambos at Tynecastle on Saturday.

St Mirren have won two of the three meetings between the sides this season, winning 3-1 at The SMiSA Stadium in December and by the same scoreline at Pittodrie in February. 

A Kelle Roos own goal, as well as goals from Mark O'Hara and Greg Kiltie saw us come from behind to defeat the Dons in Paisley on Christmas Eve. 

Curtis Main scored twice when Saints visited Pittodrie in February with Declan Gallagher rounding off the 3-1 victory. 

Aberdeen won the first meeting of the two teams this season at Pittodrie in August, with the Dons winning 4-1.

We have witnessed our biggest attendances since The SMiSA Stadium opened its doors in 2009, with record numbers in many of our fixtures and only our third sell out since we moved from Love Street. For your continued invaluable support we are offering you exclusive access to our loyalty period to allow you to renew your ticket and secure your seat for a three-week period before all seats are released for general sale. 

Our loyalty period runs from Monday 22nd May to Sunday 11th June giving you three weeks to renew your ticket and retain your seat at our early bird prices. Please note on Monday 12th June all seats will be released into general early bird sale, and these will go on sale to all from Wednesday 14th June, so now is the time to renew! 

Once your ticket order is complete you will receive a confirmation email. Please ensure all details are correct and contact the ticket office if you have any issues. This season we are offering an alternative to a printed card, you will have access to a free app which will hold your season ticket. Please ensure that, in renewing your tickets, that you account for any changes in personal circumstance. Our concessions include 65 and over, 13-17 year-olds, full-time students and those who are unemployed. Our 'Family Ticket' proves to be the best value for money for two adults and three children aged 17 and under, and we have our Adult, U12s, Ambulant and Wheelchair tickets. We ask that you select the correct corresponding category when you renew your seat(s). 

There is further supportive information outlined below for renewing each type of season ticket. Please note that if you are selecting a concession category, we will ask that you provide proof of this before your new season ticket is validated.

We want to remain competitive on the pitch and give the manager the best resources we possibly can in our quest for another top six finish. There has been a modest price increase to reflect the cost of living, but we have kept this to a minimum in order to continue to provide the best value we can for you to support St Mirren and be an integral part of #OurFamily. We have endeavoured to reduce the impact as much as possible. However, we continue to offer great value for money in comparison with other Scottish Premiership clubs. #OurFamily Our Family ticket includes two adults and three children under the age of 17, offering excellent value for money for a family day out. The ticket works out at approximately £31 per family per match based on our early bird pricing, and £35 at full price, which is a massive saving on walk-up prices, costing up to £100 per visit. More information on purchasing this bundle ticket is outlined below. Please note that Family Ticket renewals, or transfer to a Family Ticket, must be completed at the St Mirren Ticket Office. This is a special ticket bundle and cannot be purchased online.

Please note for all season ticket holders in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand, your ticket now includes ALL Scottish Premiership home fixtures, and prices are reflective of this.

However, we know season tickets are a big financial commitment and we continue to offer interest free payment plans available for those who may wish to spread the cost of a season ticket. Your seat will be held just the same, no one else can buy your seat unless you do not renew before 12th June. How to Renew Your Season Ticket 2023/24

During our three-week Loyalty Period, commencing on Monday May 22nd, we are holding your seat to allow you time to renew your ticket for next season and guarantee your seat with the added benefit of early bird pricing. You will have until midnight on Sunday 11th June before we release the seats from the Loyalty Period into General Sale. During this period, you will benefit from our early bird pricing, which will also be available when the seats are released, for a further four weeks. Once this period has ended all sales will move to full price.

We have created a guide to support you in renewing your Season Ticket. The step-by-step process is outlined below:

1. You will be asked for your email address used to place last season’s order, so please ensure you have it ready. If you have bought multiple season tickets in one transaction you will be able to renew online. However, if it was done over multiple orders then you will need to come into the ticket office directly to renew.

2. After you have entered your email, you will be taken to a screen that will highlight the seats in your previous order. Only you will be able to see and select the seats you have previously bought.

3. If you wish to continue without any changes from the previous season, select add to basket and go to checkout where you can make payment for your order.

4. If you wish to amend your order for any reason, just click on the seat you wish to amend:

• If you no longer require one of your seats, click on the seat to deselect it and it will be removed from your order.
• If you wish to change seats, then please deselect your current seat and pick any available seat to add to your order.
