St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce that Declan John has signed a new contract that sees him stay at the club until summer 2028.
The Welshman, who initially joined Saints on a short-term deal in November 2024, remains with the club for the next two years after putting pen-to-paper on an extended deal with Craig McLeish’s men.
Declan has impressed during his time in Paisley with 14 goal contributions in his 62 appearances for the Buddies.
Speaking to stmirren.com, Declan said: "I've loved my time with the club since I've been here over the last two seasons.
"I’m really happy to get it done and hopefully we have another two good years with the club.
"The club has shown really good faith in me over the last couple of seasons. I think I've done quite well over my time at the club and it's nice for the club to come forward and offer me the extension.
"I've been back doing the running sessions for the last 10 days or two weeks. So I'm probably not quite there yet but I'm really not far away from it at all."
Manager Craig McLeish added: "Declan adding another year on to his deal is a fantastic piece of business for us.
"Declan is a really important player for us and I think he’s one of the best full-backs in the league. He brings so much experience and leadership on and off the pitch and is a core part of our experienced group of players.
"He was playing through a painful injury and put off his surgery to try and help us over the line. I think that speaks volume of Declan as a character and I’m delighted to have him for the longer-term.
He’s a top professional and one that we’re lucky to have."
