Renfrewshire Foodbank Collection | 721kg of food donated

St Mirren Football Club would like to say a huge thank you to supporters for their donations to the Renfrewshire Foodbank collection at The SMiSA Stadium ahead of last weekend's match against Dundee.

Supporters donated 51 full crates which equated to 721.1kg of food. A bucket collection also raised £2,052.37 in cash that will be used by the Foodbank to purchase essential items.

The generosity from the supporters was incredible and we thank each and every one of you for helping to support our community. Every single donation will go directly to families across Renfrewshire who are in need.

We'd also like to say big thank you also to all the volunteers who made the collection possible.

Craig McLeish promoted to First Team Transition Phase Head Coach

St Mirren Football Club is pleased to confirm that Craig McLeish has been promoted to the role of First Team Transition Phase Head Coach.

Craig has been a vital part of the St Mirren Youth Academy in recent years, playing a major role in the development of young players like Evan Mooney, Fraser Taylor and Callum Penman. He takes on the new role following the departure of Peter Hartley who has returned to England to be closer to his family. We sincerely thank Peter for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future.

Craig will continue to support the St Mirren U19 squad’s development alongside Academy coach Marc Kelly, whilst also assisting manager Stephen Robinson and Brian Kerr with first team matters.

Speaking on his new role, Craig said: "I'm really excited about it.

"I'm grateful that the manager has given me the opportunity. I'm delighted that he's put faith in me to come up and bridge that gap between the academy and the first team.

"I think that the biggest part of the transition phase is to integrate the younger boys as much as possible and expose them to first team training. We'll obviously have the B team games or the KDM Cup games which are great for that integration as well.

We'll be doing a lot of work where younger players get to come over and do individual and unit work with the first team player. It’s about exposing them as much as possible so that over a period of time, more and more of the young players can start to make up the first team squad.

"I've been in and around the first team for over a season now, doing more work with them which has been great for my own development, but the skill set that I can bring is that knowledge of the young ones coming through, even probably some of the boys that the manager's not quite aware of because they're quite young. We can now start to fast track them and accelerate their development."

The game would go the distance with Evan Mooney, Marcus Fraser, Liam Donnelly and Malik Dijksteel scoring from the spot to send us through.

Miguel Freckleton's late header secures deserved Saints win over Hearts

Miguel Freckleton's late header saw St Mirren grab a richly deserved win over league leaders Hearts at The SMiSA Stadium.

Saints dominated the proceedings, but couldn't find a way past Alexander Schwolow who put on an inspired show in the Hearts goal. Just as it looked like the Buddies would have to settle for a point, defender Freckleton bulleted home a header in 88th minute to ensure all three points remained in Paisley. Stephen Robinson's men have now moved up to ninth place in the William Hill Premiership with our first league victory since December.

The manager made five changes from Saturday's 0-0 draw with Dundee. Deadline day signing Jacob Devaney made his debut after signing on loan from Manchester United yesterday. Jayden Richardson, Declan John, Dan Nlundulu and Mikael Mandron also came in with Scott Tanser, Tunmise Sobowale, Roland Idowu and Kion Etete dropped to the bench, while Jake Young missed out through suspension.

Saints started brightly with an unmarked Alex Gogic heading a John free-kick over on three minutes. Schwolow was called into action for the visitors 10 minutes later as he made his first big save of the match. John drove in from the left and saw his deflected strike fall nicely at the feet of Mandron. The forward got his shot away but saw the Jambos shot-stopper get two strong hands behind it to push away.

Devaney impressed on his debut, showing maturity beyond his 18 years. He almost broke the deadlock on 23 minute when his dangerous crossed almost looped in at the far post. Four minutes later, Gogic almost did similarly with his cross-cum-shot tipped over by Schwolow.

Hearts were reduced to 10 men as the game approached the half hour mark. Brilliant pressing from Mandron saw him steal the ball off Stuart Findlay deep in the Hearts half. Nlundulu wrestled with Craig Halkett for the ball and the ball fell for Devaney who was about to race clear on goal. He was scythed down by Halkett who was given his marching orders for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. A VAR check confirmed the decision. Killian Phillips took the resulting free-kick 20 yards from goal, seeing his effort pushed away by Schwolow. Mandron couldn't force home on the follow up. Phillips tested the goalkeeper again on 38 minutes with a long-range shot that was once again saved.

The Buddies would have the ball in the net before half-time, only to be denied by the linesman's flag. John's free-kick met the head of Gogic who crashed his attempt off the post. Marcus Fraser was quickest to react, bundling into the net, but quickly denied by the offside call. As the game headed into injury-time at the end of the first 45, Saints were awarded a penalty when Richardson was felled by Milne. But a VAR check ruled the foul took place outside the box so the decision was overturned and Saints awarded a free-kick which John curled just by the far post.

Schwolow, the scourge of St Mirren, once again made another brilliant stop early into the second-half to deny us an opener. Gogic's cross found Mandron at the back post. The forward brought it down on his chest before seeing his strike blocked by a top stop from the Hearts goalkeeper.

Phillips headed a glorious chance over with a little more than 20 minutes to go, but the offside flag was raised in any case. Substitute Conor McMenamin then forced a save from Schwolow at his near post as the game ticked into its final minutes. From the resulting corner, John's delivery was exceptional and found Freckleton who peeled away from his marker to slam into the net and make up for the goal he wrongly saw disallowed when the sides met at The SMiSA Stadium in October.

Saints would be forced to deal with one final Hearts set piece from which they sent Schwolow up in search of the goal that would give them a point. But Sabah Kerjota's delivery was poor and Etete managed to head clear the danger as the Buddies secured a welcome three points.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

From the Town Hall cross the High Street towards the Piazza Shopping Centre, when acoss walk towards the town centre until you come to Gilmour Street. Turn right on to Gilmour Street and walk towards the railway station which is about 150 yards away. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Jacob Devaney joins on loan from Manchester United

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Jacob Devaney from Manchester United, subject to international clearance.

The 18-year-old midfielder joins Saints from the English giants until the end of the season.

Named Manchester United Youth Scholar of the Year in May 2025, Devaney is a highly-rated prospect at Old Trafford and captains the Red Devils' U21 side where he has made 22 appearances this season. The Yorkshire-born midfielder has also been capped six times by Republic of Ireland at U21 level.

Jacob Devaney with a St Mirren scarf

Speaking on the move, Jacob told stmirren.com: "I’m very excited.

"It’s a great opportunity for me to come here, do well and try to help the lads finish the season strong.

"As soon as the offer came up it was something that me and my family looked at, and thought was a great opportunity. I see it as a big step in my career to go and prove myself. Everything he [the manager] said was really positive and that’s why I’m here today.

I’m a hard-working midfielder," he continued.

"I cover a lot of distance, I do a bit at both ends defending and like to get forward as well. Something I’ve worked on this season is my finishing, scoring goals and getting assists and I’ve added that this year."

Jacob Devaney at The SMiSA Stadium

Manager Stephen Robinson added: "Jacob gives us something that we haven't got.

"We haven't really replaced Caolan Boyd-Munce and with Keanu [Baccus] being injured we haven't had that link between defence and midfield in recent weeks.

"He's a really highly thought of young player at Manchester United so we're looking forward to getting him involved. He's been playing U21 football for Manchester United on a regular basis and with our injuries he could get thrown in at the deep end, but we believe he's got a mentality to handle that and is someone we feel can make an impact."

Evan Mooney joins Arsenal on a permanent deal

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Evan Mooney has departed the club to join English Premier League side Arsenal on a permanent deal.

While the terms of the deal remain confidential, the club has secured a substantial fee with potential for significant future add-ons and a sizeable sell-on clause.

A St Mirren Youth Academy graduate, Evan made 23 appearances for the Buddies since making his first-team debut in October 2024, scoring one goal in a 3-2 win over St Johnstone in the William Hill Premiership.

Manager Stephen Robinson said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for Evan at a club the size of Arsenal.

"It was a terrific deal for the club as well and we're very well protected in terms of adds on and sell on should Evan go on to fulfil the potential that we believe that he has.

"Evan, his family and advisers were very keen to go to Arsenal and we wish him nothing but good luck."

We sincerely thank Evan for his efforts during his time at St Mirren and wish him the very best of luck in his future career.
