St Mirren FC Becomes First Officially Recognised Disability Friendly Football Club in Scotland

St Mirren Football Club is proud to announce significant progress in its ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Working in partnership with local charity I Am Me Scotland, the club is set to become the first officially recognised Disability Friendly football club in the country.

This achievement follows an independent accessibility review carried out with invaluable support from St Mirren fans. The review identified a number of improvements to enhance access and inclusion across the club. Since then, I Am Me Scotland has continued to support the newly formed St Mirren Disabled Supporters Association (SMDSA) as members begin implementing the report’s recommendations.

As part of this collaborative approach, SMDSA and I Am Me Scotland will host bi‑monthly drop‑in sessions at The SMiSA Stadium, offering all supporters the chance to share ideas and play an active role in shaping accessibility across the club.

The first session will take place on Friday 27th March at 1pm, with a focus on developing a new Guide Dog and Assistance Dog Policy for use across the stadium. Members of the SMDSA Board will also introduce their roles, gather feedback on priorities for future meetings, and welcome disabled supporters interested in joining and strengthening the group’s voice within St Mirren FC.

St Mirren FC remains committed to ensuring every supporter has the opportunity to help make the club as accessible, inclusive, and welcoming as possible.

Supporters wishing to attend the drop‑in session are invited to contact the I Am Me Scotland team at: iamme@renfrewshire.gov.uk

Form

St Mirren go into Sunday's match after securing their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last weekend. Goals from Dan Nlundulu and Jake Young saw the Buddies defeat Partick Thistle 2-1 at The SMiSA Stadium. That set up a last four trip to Hampden where we will face Celtic.

Rangers, meanwhile, were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic last Sunday. A goalless 120 minutes had to be decided on penalties with Celtic prevailing 4-2 at Ibrox.

Saints are in 10th place in the William Hill Premiership and sit three points ahead of Kilmarnock who occupy the relegation play-off spot. Our last win in the league came at The SMiSA Stadium at the beginning of February when Miguel Freckleton's goal gave us a 1-0 victory over Hearts.

Danny Rohl's side sit third in the William Hill Premiership, six points behind league leaders Hearts and a point above second place Celtic. The Ibrox side have won only one of their last five matches in all competitions and drawn their last three away matches in league duty after draws with Livingston (2-2), Motherwell (1-1) and Hibernian (0-0).

Saints have won two, drawn two and lost one of our last five meetings with Rangers. Jonah Ayunga gave the Buddies the lead when the sides met at The SMiSA Stadium in August, but Findlay Curtis levelled for Rangers as the game finished 1-1. Rangers were victorious when the sides last faced at Ibrox in December. The Buddies pulled a late goal back through Mikael Mandron, but we were beaten 2-1.

Club Statement - Stephen Robinson departs for Aberdeen

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Stephen Robinson has departed the club to take on the role of manager at Aberdeen Football Club.

The Northern Irishman leaves St Mirren after Aberdeen triggered a compensation clause in his contract.

The board of directors and everyone at St Mirren would like to thank Stephen for the role he has played at the club during his four years in charge and wish him well for the future.

The club can confirm that assistant manager Brian Kerr will also leave the club to join Stephen at Aberdeen. We thank Brian for his efforts during his time at St Mirren and wish him well for the future.

An interim coaching team has been put in place with Craig McLeish working alongside Jamie Langfield and Allan McManus to take charge of first-team matters until a new management team is appointed. Craig has been part of the first-team setup in recent months following his involvement at senior level with the St Mirren Youth Academy for a number of years. He will work alongside Jamie and Allan who took interim charge of Saints prior to Stephen's appointment in 2022.

Appointed as St Mirren manager in February 2022, Stephen achieved our first top six finish in the current league structure, and our highest top-flight finish since 1984-85, during his first full season at the club.

The following season, Stephen would lead us to a fifth-place finish in the William Hill Premiership which saw us return to European football for the first time in 37 years. A third consecutive top six finish was completed in April 2025.

Stephen further cemented his legacy as one of St Mirren’s greatest ever managers when he led us to success in the Premier Sports Cup in December.

St Mirren Chairman John Needham said: "I would like to place on record the club’s sincere thanks to Stephen Robinson for his tremendous contributions during his time as our manager.

"While we are sad to see Stephen leave the club, he departs with the best wishes of everyone at St Mirren after four years of outstanding service.

"Stephen will rightfully go down as one of St Mirren’s greatest ever managers. Our European nights against Valur FC and SK Brann will live long in the memory, as will December’s Premier Sports Cup victory over Celtic at Hampden Park.

"We wish Stephen, Brian and their families the very best of luck for the future.

"The process to appoint a new manager is underway and we will update supporters further as soon as possible."

St Mirren Chief Operating Officer Keith Lasley added: "While we are naturally disappointed to see Stephen move on, we respect his desire to take on a new challenge.

"Stephen has served the club with tremendous drive and determination over his four years in charge and delivered phenomenal success to St Mirren.

"I want to personally thank him for his contributions during his time at the club and wish him and Brian well for the future.

"Craig McLeish, Jamie Langfield and Allan McManus will head up our interim team and ensure a smooth transition having all been involved with the first-team matters. We have every faith in their ability to help drive the club on over the interim period as we conduct a thorough process to appoint a new management team.

"Our focus is now on the process to appoint a new manager and ensuring a strong finish to the season, with much to play for in the league and a trip to Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-finals coming up next month."

Club Statement - Aberdeen FC approach for Stephen Robinson

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that we have been approached by Aberdeen FC to speak to manager Stephen Robinson in relation to their managerial vacancy.

Aberdeen have met a contractual clause in Stephen’s contract so the club has granted them permission to speak with him regarding the vacancy.

We hope for a swift resolution to this matter and will keep supporters updated.

Hampden awaits as Saints progress to Scottish Cup semi-final

St Mirren are going back to Hampden and will face Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final after we defeated Partick Thistle.

Goals from Dan Nlundulu and Jake Young gave Stephen Robinson's men a commanding 2-0 lead at half-time. Ben Stanway pulled one back for Thistle with a stunning strike a little after the hour mark. But the Buddies saw the game out to secure a place in the last four where we'll take on Celtic in a repeat of the Premier Sports Cup final.

Young was one of two changes for Saints as he came in along with Declan John in place of Roland Idowu and Scott Tanser.

It was the visitors who threatened first with eventual goalscorer Stanway curling an effort off the post from 20 yards in the opening two minutes. Saints then rattled the post themselves on five minutes when Killian Phillips rose the highest to a Mark O'Hara cross, but saw it crash off the woodwork.

Bar those two early opportunities, it was a fairly uneventful opening 30 minutes at The SMiSA Stadium. It would, however, be stirred by a VAR check for handball that saw Saints awarded a penalty. Keanu Baccus' cross came off the arm of Robbie Crawford and Nlundulu rolled home from 12 yards to give us the lead.

The Buddies looked to add a quickfire second with John volleying into the arms of Thistle goalkeeper Josh Clarke on 36 minutes.

Saints were dealt a huge blow five minutes before the end of the half when Marcus Fraser went down with what appears to be a broken collarbone. He was replaced by Richard King who was booked almost immediately after his introduction for a foul on Alex Samuel.

Stephen Robinson's side controlled the remainder of the half and looked to add a second before the break. Clarke saved from both Miguel Freckleton and John as we ticked into five minutes of injury-time at the end of the first 45. The Saints dominance would be rewarded when Young netted his second in as many games. Phillips' pressing saw him rob the ball deep in the Thistle half with the break of the ball falling for Nlundulu who fed it to his right for Young. The forward took it first time, striking hard and low beyond Clarke at the near post to give us a 2-0 advantage at the interval.

Saints looked to pick up where the left off as the second-half began. John rifled into the side net inside the opening minute of the second 45. Thistle almost reduced the deficit two minutes later with Shamal George making a brilliant save to turn away Samuel's strike.

The visitors would find themselves back in the game when Stanway pulled a goal back on 61 minutes. Patrick Reading floated a corner to the edge of the area where it met the unmarked Stanway. His finish was brilliant as he volleyed home from 18 yards.

The manager responded by making a double change that saw Jacob Devaney replace Keanu Baccus and Jalmaro Calvin come on for Young. But it was Thistle who were looking the more threatening as they searched for a leveller. Ex-Saint Tony Watt flashed an effort wide on 72 minutes. As the game heading into its closing moments, Thistle substitute Ricco Diack headed an Aidan Fitzpatrick cross just wide, while Ben McPherson sliced a half volley inches by the far post in added time.

The Buddies would see the game out to ensure a return to Hampden where we'll meet Celtic next month.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

    BY RAIL

Get train from Paisley Gilmour Street to Paisley St James – exit from the station is straight onto Greenhill Road where the stadium is facing you. To plan your journey by rail with Scotrail please click HERE.

    BY BUS

Most buses will stop at Paisley Cross or Mill Street, from both you will see the Paisley Town Hall. From the Town Hall cross the High Street towards the Piazza Shopping Centre, when acoss walk towards the town centre until you come to Gilmour Street. Turn right on to Gilmour Street and walk towards the railway station which is about 150 yards away. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Home fans: cross road to the left on to St James Street – follow through up Underwood Road then turn right at Greenhill Road where stadium is 200 yards further along the road. Access to the Main Stand is from Greenhill Road and the South and West Stands will be accessed from Drums Avenue.

Away fans: cross road to Love Street continue up the street till you come to Albion Street where you will turn left. Follow Albion Street until you come to the junction with Greenock Road where you will turn right. Cross the road then walk about 200 yards before taking your first left on to Clark Street. Walk straight up Clark Street to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the the stadium on the opposite side of the road.
