Danny Mullen says he's loving every minute of life at Saints after getting off the mark on Saturday's win over Queen of the South. 

The 22 year-old joined the club in December on an emergency loan from Livingston before signing permanently in January. 

With the team in top form over the last few months and a niggling injury playing a part, the forward has had to be patient in his pursuit of first team starts. 

But he's made his mark after starting the last two matches - picking up man of the match for his performance against Dunfermline before scoring his first goal in black and white stripes in Saturday's 3-1 win. 

I'm delighted," he told stmirren.com.

"It's great to get the chance to play in the team two weeks running. I'm enjoying every minute I've been playing and hopefully it can continue.

"It meant everything to score. It's always good to get your first goal and it's been a long time coming. It's here now and hopefully I can get many more.

"Morgy did excellent just before it and laid it on a plate. I took it first time because the keeper wasn't set and thankfully it went past him.

"It's good that I've no injury problems now and hopefully it can continue like that."

Just eight matches remain for The Buddies until the end of the season with Saturday's result helping Saints open up a 12 point gap at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship.

Mullen says the team knows what is in sight and there's real excitement around as they try to secure a return to the Premiership. 

We've got targets from now until the end of the season and the quicker we can get the points on the board the better. It was a well fought three points.

"Like I say I'm loving every minute that I'm playing for the club. When I first came in all the boys were great with me and now I feel like I've been here a long time.

"We just can't wait for the next game that comes up. There's a good buzz about the place just now."

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Josh Todd has joined Queen of the South on an emergency loan until the end of the season.

Todd joined The Buddies in January 2017 from Dumbarton before penning a one-year contract extension last summer which expires in summer 2018. 

The 23 year-old midfielder has made 14 appearances for Saints scoring once. 

All at St Mirren wish Josh the best on his move. 

The young Saints were in action today against a strong Aberdeen side, who sit third in the SPFL Development League.

It was a fairly slow start to the game, with the first real chance falling to Matthew Reilly, who found himself in plenty of space in the six yard box, but was unable to finish. A good save from Dons' keeper Joe Lewis was enough to push the ball past the post for a corner.

It was then Aberdeen's chance to go ahead, when forward Dangana was running at the young Buddies defence and managed to get a shot across David Wilson's goal from just inside the penalty area, but the big striker dragged the ball wide. Much to the relief of Allan McManus, a let off for Saints.

The deadlock was broken on 15 minutes though, with a nice bit of play down the left wing by Matthew Reilly, the ball was put into the box and eventually broke to Conor O'Keefe who volleyed the ball assertively past Lewis in the Aberdeen goal. The midfielder, currently on loan at Annan, put the Saints in the driver seat.

However, It didn't last long, as Dangana equalised for Aberdeen. The centre forward had been causing problems, and found himself again tearing down on the St Mirren defence, but this time made no mistake as he rifled the ball past Wilson to tie the score at 1-1.

The second half wasn't quite as eventful as the first, but the young Saints did plug away at Aberdeen's defence. They were mostly reduced to long range efforts and set pieces though.

Aberdeen started to come into the game more and more though and on the 59 minute mark they managed to take the lead. A good cross from the right wing found Seb Ross who rose above the Saints defence and nodded past Wilson in the St Mirren goal to give Aberdeen the lead for the first time in the game.

St Mirren strived to get back in the game. Headers from McBrearty and Glover tested Lewis, but they were unable to break down the Dons' defence and create anything clear cut.

Lewis Morgan was back among the goals on Saturday in St Mirren's 3-1 victory over Queen of the South at Palmerston Park. 

The Scotland U21 internationalist came back into the team this week after missing last week's game to Dunfermline due to tonsillitis, and what an impact he made as got a goal and three assists to his name.

Speaking to Buddievision, Morgan said: "It's brilliant, considering it came in a 3-1 win - we only scored three. We were talking inside about it, how I can get an assist for the free kick because I won it myself.

But it's great, it's a tough place to come, and Queens obviously have aspirations of their own and want to get into the play-offs, they've got some good players. The surface isn't great at times; but it's a great result for us coming down here."

It was the winger's first goal since his strike in the Renfrewshire Derby against Greenock Morton on the 2nd of January.

And Morgan hopes it wont be his last this season.

It's been a while," he said. "That's kind of what's been happening in my season. I've been going through little dry spells and then I'll go through a little purple patch, so hopefully that's another one coming up now.

"Obviously, we've got a break, we don't play until Dumbarton a week on Tuesday, so hopefully by then everyone will be refreshed and ready to go."

Morgan won the foul which lead to his goal against The Donnhamers, but there was some debate about who was going to take the freekick between Morgan and Magennis.

He continued: "Magennis has got a technique that can really make the ball move.

"But we just felt with the close proximity of the free kick that it might be better suited for me, just to go to the goalie's side.

"Originally I was going to hit it with pace, but it turned out with the goalie's positioning, that I didn't really need to. There was a big enough gap for me to put it in with my left foot."

The number 10 also set up both Danny Mullen and Kyle Magennis for their respective goals. The former netting his first ever goal for The Saints.

He added: "I'm really happy for Danny, he's been brilliant, he gives us something different up front and he took his goal brilliantly on his left foot. He seems to be comfortable on both sides Danny, so it's great for him and hopefully he can really kick on now as well.

"Magennis made a great run and he's made my mind up with his quality of running. I've just been able to backheel it into his path and he's drove on, took on about three players, and left them in his wake.

"It's a great finish, and we know he's got that in him and we know he's got goals in his game. For for one reason or another it hasn't happened, but now he seems to be hitting a bit of form in front of goal."

Saturday's win saw St Mirren move 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship.

Both Dundee United and Livingston dropped points during the weekend as they drew with Inverness and Falkirk.

Saints now only need 15 points from the next eight games to secure promotion back to the top flight.  

Morgan continued: "The end goal has been evident for everyone in our changing room. We know what we want to do and we have our own targets that we want to meet. That's still the priority for us, we're not going to take our foot off the gas, we know how many points we want in this quarter of games.

"If we meet those targets then we will get the end goal and win the league. Obviously, results have went in our favour today, but this league is crazy and in the same token it could be the other way about. So it's going to be an exciting run in.

"It's all in our own hands. There's no point in looking at what other teams are doing. If we meet our targets, and we do what we are capable of, then we will take care of business without needing help from any other team. 

"I think we've proven this season that we have been the most consistent team in the league. Our league position shows that, and we're really putting on the pressure on other teams around us."

St Mirren head to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium a week on Saturday (31st March) to face John Robertson's Inverness Caley Thistle side in the Ladbrokes Championship.

It has been confirmed that this match will be pay-on-the-day where match tickets can be bought from the ticket office sited beside the South Stand at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.

The St Mirren U20s are in action as they face Aberdeen this afternoon. 

The SPFL Development League clash takes place at New Western Park and entry is free.

During the January transfer window a number of players moved out on loan to play regular football. Here's a look at how some of them got on last weekend. 

Darryl Duffy netted his third Airdrieonians goal as The Diamonds held promotion chasing Alloa to a 2-2 draw at The Indodrill Stadium. Airdrieonians fell behind twice to Jim Goodwin's side but pegged them back to gain a point. Jordan Kirkpatrick was substituted for Alloa after 70 minutes while Ross Stewart played the full 90.

Darren Whyte played the full match for Forfar on Saturday but couldn't help prevent them falling to a 2-0 defeat at home to league leaders Ayr United. Forfar still remain a point ahead Albion Rovers in the battle to avoid the drop.

Robbie Leitch was a second half substitute as bottom side Queens Park defeated Stranraer 3-2 at Stair Park to move within a point of Albion Rovers. Cameron MacPherson played the full match for Stranraer. 

In League Two, Evan Horne and Conor O'Keefe featured for Annan Athletic as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Clyde at Galabank. Horne played the full match while O'Keefe was a 68th minute substitute. 

Andrew McDonald played the full match for play-off chasing Elgin City as they fell to a shock 3-1 defeat away to bottom side Cowdenbeath.
