HELP REQUIRED

In order to continue to provide the highly successful pre match entertainment for families and to ensure their safety, we urgently need volunteers to supervise each of the activities, such as the inflatables and provide a welcome to the fans of the future to your club.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

Up Next: St Mirren v Hibernian (27th Aug)

St Mirren are back at home this weekend as Stephen Robinson's side host Hibernian at the SMiSA Stadium.

Saints go into Saturday's match in good spirits after two wins in the last two cinch Premiership matches. The Buddies defeated Dundee United 3-0 at Tannadice last weekend - our biggest league win since a 5-1 win over United in January 2021. That came off the back of a 1-0 win against Ross County at the SMiSA Stadium the previous week.

Hibernian have picked up five points from their opening four matches in the cinch Premiership. Their only win so far came on opening day when a late Josh Campbell goal saw them defeat St Johnstone 1-0.

Late goals have been a recurring theme for Lee Johnson's side this season with Martin Boyle's injury-time goal earning a 1-1 draw with rivals Hearts on matchday two and Campbell again on the scoresheet in stoppage time last weekend in a 2-2 draw with Rangers at Easter Road.

The Hibees have lost once in the league so far this season - losing 2-1 at Livingston.

Previous

Saints were edged out in the last meeting of the two with Ewan Henderson scoring in a 1-0 win for Hibernian at the SMiSA Stadium in April.

The Buddies did, however, defeat Hibs in the match before that when Connor Ronan netted the game's only goal in a 1-0 victory for Saints at Easter Road in February.

The two other contests last season ended in draws with Joe Shaughnessy scoring late equalisers in both 1-1 and 2-2 draws.

Our last win over Hibernian at the SMiSA Stadium was in March 2017 with Stelios Demetriou scoring twice in a vital 2-0 win on our way to the 'Great Escape' of 2016/17.

The officials

Graham Grainger is the referee on Saturday and will be assisted by David McGeachie and Gordon Crawford. Kevin Clancy is the fourth official.

Alex Gogic on his return to St Mirren

Alex Gogic feels like he is "home" after returning to Saints on a two-year deal.

The Cyprus international initially signed for the club on loan in January until the summer and spent the close season weighing up all his options following his contract expiry at Hibernian.

While he confessed he wanted to take his time to consider all those options he is delighted to be back in Paisley.

I had a few offers abroad but, considering everything, I felt this was the best offer.

"It does feel like home. I became a man in Scotland so it’s definitely my second home.

"It wasn’t an easy decision, that’s why I took this long. It took a while to decide what was best for me and my family together and we decided this was the best decision for us.

"I didn’t want to rush into anything. I have got a two-year contract here but I had offers for three years and I wanted it to be right.

"At the start of the summer I was thinking maybe I would try something different and new. I thought I would wait and see my offers. And then when you consider everything, it’s nice to come back home."

The 28-year-old first joined the club on deadline day of the January transfer window and would score on his debut against Motherwell.

He admitted the loan reinvigorated his love for football and said that - alongside fans and the manager's influence - was pivotal him returning.

I really enjoyed myself from January being here and playing football and just being happy again," he continued.

"And even just the fans tweeting me almost every day. I had some nice tweets and obviously a warm welcome. It’s nice to be loved.

"He [Stephen Robinson] is really excited, and so am I, to work again together and do well.

"He is demanding but in a good way. He just wants the best out of you and he knows how to get it.

"He knows what he wants and I think we will do well this season. The lads have started so well and been playing well."

While Alex hasn't had a pre-season, he said he is feeling good after joining in with the players at training on Monday and could be in line for his second debut against his former side Hibernian on Saturday.

I have been staying fit.

"It’s probably not the same as the guys after pre-season, but I feel fit and I trained with the boys earlier."

Help a Buddie

Our Help A Buddie initiative is up and running with ACCORD Hospice, The Disability Resource Centre and Ukrainian families the recipients of our community tickets so far this season.

ACCORD were donated 15 tickets for our opening day match against Motherwell and used their tickets for patients and their families, volunteers and staff at the Hospice. We also welcomed Ukrainian families to that match in tandem with Street Stuff and the resettlement team at Renfrewshire Council.

The Disability Resource Centre in Paisley were the recipients for our match with Ross County with Trevor Carson and Peter Urminsky visiting Margaret, one of the DRC's users and a lifelong Buddie, who hadn't had the opportunity to see the team in action so far this season.

Launched in June, Help a Buddie is our brand-new initiative where St Mirren supporters have the chance to purchase and donate a match ticket for those less fortunate.

The Help a Buddie scheme will run for the entirety of the 2022/23 season and will continue to help benefit local community groups/organisations and those less fortunate supporters.

If you want to Help a Buddie please click HERE to donate a match ticket.

The manager in praise for entire squad after win at Dundee United

Stephen Robinson praised the full squad after a big win at Tannadice.

Saints hit three to secure deserved win at Tannadice

St Mirren made it two wins from two as Curtis Main's double as well as a late Alex Greive strike saw Saints defeat Dundee United.

Main scored either side of half-time to have the Buddies deservedly ahead before Greive put the seal on the victory at Tannadice in stoppage time as Saints left the City of Discovery with all three points.

Stephen Robinson made two changes to the side that defeated Ross County last weekend with Declan Gallagher coming back in from suspension in place of skipper Joe Shaughnessy with Mark O'Hara picking up the captain's armband as he replaced Greg Kiltie.

Saints were right at it from the off and almost took the lead inside the opening minute when a perfect cross from the right side found Jonah Ayunga who nodded just wide.

Keanu Baccus went close on nine minutes when he perfectly caught a volley 20 yards from goal. It was viciously struck with United captain Ryan Edwards denying the goal-bound effort with his head.

Then O'Hara had a great opportunity to put St Mirren ahead on the half-hour mark. Ayunga did brilliantly to pick out Ryan Strain with a cross-field pass and the Australian cushioned the header into the path of O'Hara whose low curled effort from the edge of the area was pushed away by United goalkeeper Carljohan Eriksson.

Saints were denied a stonewall penalty two minutes later when Aziz Behich handled in the box. It was as clear as penalty as you're likely to see and should have led to a second yellow for the United man, but nothing was given.

It looked like the Arabs were starting to come into the game more as it approached half-time with Trevor Carson forced into a big save on 38 minutes when he tipped a Glenn Middleton free-kick over.

But St Mirren would take the lead with five minutes of the half remaining. O'Hara drove forward with his pass reaching Main via the aid of a deflection off Dylan Levitt. The striker broke into the box and fired beyond Eriksson to put Saints ahead.

Main then got his and St Mirren's second just six minutes into the second-half. O'Hara was involved again when he found Ayunga and the striker weaved his way into the box before finding Main who slammed high into the net for his third goal in his last six matches.

Saints looked for a quickfire third with O'Hara denied by an Eriksson save just three minutes after the second goal.

Carson made a brilliant save with a little under 15 minutes remaining to keep St Mirren two in-front. The Northern Ireland international got a strong hand to turn away substitute Ilmari Niskanen's effort. But that was as close as United would come with Saints comfortable and restricting the home side to very little opportunities.

Greive - who had only come on minutes before - wrapped up the win in the dying moments in a move that involved all the substitutes. The New Zealand forward raced on to Brophy's pass and poked home from distance after getting ahead of onrushing goalkeeper Eriksson who had raced out of the box to try and deny the striker.

Full-Time: Dundee United 0-3 St Mirren

St Mirren: Carson, Fraser, Gallagher, Dunne, Strain, Baccus (Kiltie 72), Erhahon, O'Hara (c), Tait, Ayunga (Brophy 77), Main (Greive 87)

Alex Gogic returns to St Mirren

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Alex Gogic after the Cypriot international agreed a two-year deal subject to international clearance.

Alex joined the club in January on loan from fellow cinch Premiership outfit Hibernian and became a firm fans favourite in short time at Saints – making 15 appearances as well as scoring on his debut at the SMiSA Stadium.

The 28-year-old will arrive back in the country later this weekend and join up with the squad for training on Monday.

Speaking to stmirren.com on his return, Alex said: "I'm excited to be returning to the club permanently.

"I really enjoyed my football when I joined on loan in January and I can't wait to get back to it."

Stephen Robinson said: "Alex is a player that I really like.

"We had Alex here previously and he is obviously very popular with the fans and in the dressing room.

"He's versatile and can play in two positions. He plays for his country at centre-half and he was superb when I watched him in a back three for Cyprus against Northern Ireland.

"Alex will add to the squad and we are delighted to have him back."

Up Next: Dundee United v St Mirren (20th Aug)

St Mirren head to the City of Discovery on Saturday in search of three points as Stephen Robinson's men face Dundee United.

Saints will be looking to build on Saturday's 1-0 win over Ross County as the Buddies picked up their first cinch Premiership victory of the season. Richard Tait's stunning strike was enough to give Saints all the points in a deserved win over the Dingwall side.

Dundee United are searching for their first league win of the season and will be aiming to bounce back after three defeats in a row in all competitions.

The Arabs were defeated 1-0 by Livingston at Tannadice in league action before succumbing to a 7-0 loss to Alkmaar in Europa Conference League qualifying. Jack Ross' side were then having beaten 4-1 away to Hearts on Sunday.

United sit in 10th place after the opening three matches with their solitary point coming in a 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock on the opening day.

Previous

St Mirren are unbeaten on the last two visits to Tannadice - winning 2-1 last season and 5-1 the previous season.

Jay Henderson and Eamonn Brophy were on the scoresheet in that 2-1 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice in January.

A last-minute goal saw United edge out Saints in the last meeting of the sides in March. Henderson had given us an early lead, but Dylan Levitt equalised in the second-half before Marc McNulty scored in the 96th minute to win it for the Arabs.

That was just a second loss for St Mirren in nine games against United.
