Bucket collection for SMDSA at today's match

The St Mirren Disabled Supporters Association (SMDSA) are hoping to raise some much needed funds to allow them to continue to hire an adapted bus which means wheelchair dependant and ambulant disabled fans can travel to away games supporting the Saints.

As well as collecting cash on the day a QR code has also been set up to allow supporters to contribute to the JustGiving page (as the QR code will be on the buckets).

All contributions are gratefully appreciated.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

    BY RAIL

Get train from Paisley Gilmour Street to Paisley St James – exit from the station is straight onto Greenhill Road where the stadium is facing you. To plan your journey by rail with Scotrail please click HERE.

    BY BUS

Most buses will stop at Paisley Cross or Mill Street, from both you will see the Paisley Town Hall. From the Town Hall cross the High Street towards the Piazza Shopping Centre, when acoss walk towards the town centre until you come to Gilmour Street. Turn right on to Gilmour Street and walk towards the railway station which is about 150 yards away. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Home fans: cross road to the left on to St James Street – follow through up Underwood Road then turn right at Greenhill Road where stadium is 200 yards further along the road. Access to the Main Stand is from Greenhill Road and the South and West Stands will be accessed from Drums Avenue.

Away fans: cross road to Love Street continue up the street till you come to Albion Street where you will turn left. Follow Albion Street until you come to the junction with Greenock Road where you will turn right. Cross the road then walk about 200 yards before taking your first left on to Clark Street. Walk straight up Clark Street to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the the stadium on the opposite side of the road. Access to the North Stand will be from Ferguslie Park Avenue.

Up Next: St Mirren v Kilmarnock (15th Oct)

Saints return to the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday as we get set to face Kilmarnock in cinch Premiership action.

It's the first of two home games on the bounce with Dundee United visiting Paisley the following Saturday.

Stephen Robinson's side have won all of their last four home matches defeating Livingston (2-1), Celtic (2-0), Hibernian (1-0) and Ross County (1-0). Despite a 4-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, the Saints are in fourth in the cinch Premiership with 15 points from nine matches.

Kilmarnock sit 10th in the cinch Premiership table after picking up eight points from their opening 10 fixtures. All of Killie's points have come at home so far with the Rugby Park side having lost their five away matches in league this season.

Derek McInnes' side are unbeaten in their last two league matches having drawn with Hearts 2-2 at Rugby Park on Sunday following a 2-1 win over St Johnstone last midweek.

Previous

Kilmarnock's relegation in the 2020/21 season meant there was no meeting of the two sides last season.

Saturday's match is the first meeting of the two sides since a 3-3 draw at Rugby Park in May 2021. A Kyle Lafferty double had Killie 2-0 up but Saints fought back thanks to goals from Jamie McGrath and Cammy MacPherson. Greg Kiltie - now at St Mirren - scored his final Kilmarnock goal to put the Rugby Park side ahead once again, but Colin Quaner levelled as the Buddies took a point in the dramatic encounter.

Goals from Kyle McAllister and Jon Obika saw us defeat Kilmarnock 2-0 in February 2021 - the last time Killie visited the SMiSA Stadium.

The Buddies are unbeaten in their last four against the Ayrshire side.

The officials

The referee on Saturday is Chris Graham and he'll be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Alastair Mather. The fourth official is Willie Collum.

Manager disappointed in scoreline but feels there are positives to take

We're really disappointed in the scoreline. Key moments in the game went against us.

"But I'm proud of them in many aspects of the game and proud of the fans that stayed and stuck right by them.

"We'll go again and analyse the bits we can be better at."

Defeat for St Mirren at Ibrox

St Mirren's hopes of a first league win at Ibrox since 1991 were ended after a double from Antonio Colak either side of a James Tavernier penalty as well as a late Fashion Sakala goal gave Rangers a 4-0 win.

Saints created a number of good opportunities through the game but couldn't take any of them and were punished by clinical Rangers.

Stephen Robinson made two changes from the side that started last weekend's dramatic win over Livingston. Alex Greive - who scored the last-gasp winner against the Lions - came in from the start alongside Curtis Main who returned from injury. They replaced Greg Kiltie and the suspended Jonah Ayunga.

The home side took an early lead as they went in front with only four minutes on the clock. Colak was first to react as he forced home from close-range after Borna Barisic's strike from 20 yards smacked off the post.

It was the start Saints wanted to avoid but the reaction was good with the Buddies going close to a leveller on 10 minutes. Alex Greive managed to get a shot away from inside the box but denied by a good save from Allan McGregor.

However, it was Trevor Carson who would be the busier goalkeeper over the next 10 minutes or so with the Saints stopper making a brilliant save to deny Ryan Jack on 11 minutes before twice saving curling efforts from James Tavernier.

Rangers scored a second just after the half hour mark after being awarded a penalty kick by referee Nick Walsh. The referee had deemed that Declan Gallagher fouled Colak and Rangers captain Tavernier netted from 12 yards.

Saints passed up a great chance to pull a goal back five minutes later. Scott Tanser flung a brilliant ball deep into the Rangers box where Marcus Fraser was in acres of space but the defender could only head into the arms of McGregor.

It was quiet start to the second 45 with the first real opportunity in the second period coming when Rabbi Matondo hit the post from 25 yards on 57 minutes.

The Buddies had a huge chance to reduce the deficit with just over 20 minutes of the game. A ball from Keanu Baccus on the right found its way to O'Hara who was all alone in the Rangers box, but the midfielder's effort was blocked by Rangers goalkeeper McGregor.

Mark O'Hara is denied by Allan McGregor (Image: Allan Picken)

And four minutes later Rangers would put the game beyond doubt when Colak got his second of the afternoon. The forward was slipped through by Sakala and he cut inside before knocking home neatly with the outside of the foot.

Saints would have a couple of late chances as they looked for a consolation. Main's strike from 20 yards had McGregor beaten, but came off the bar. Less than 60 seconds later Baccus forced the veteran goalkeeper into a smart stop. But it was Rangers who would add another with Sakala scoring in injury time to round off the afternoon.

Dean Lyness leaves by mutual consent

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Dean Lyness has departed the club by mutual consent.

However, the club has agreed that Dean can continue to train with the squad to maintain his fitness as he searches for a new opportunity.

The goalkeeper first joined Saints in September 2018 on a short-term deal but departed in January 2019 after playing in four matches.

Following a brief stint at Raith Rovers, Dean would return to St Mirren in June 2019 – agreeing a two-year deal before extending that further in February 2021.

Dean made 13 appearances for St Mirren overall and kept four clean sheets with his final appearance against Rangers in April 2022.

We thank Dean for his service to St Mirren and wish him all the best in his future.

Statement from Chairman, John Needham

St Mirren Football Club Chairman, John Needham has released the following statement after the news that Director Alan Wardrop will stand down from the Board of Directors.

It’s with mixed emotions that I announce that Alan Wardrop has intimated that he wishes to step down as a Director on 19 November after over six years service on our Board. Pleasingly, whilst he will no longer be part of the Board, he has indicated willingness to continue his involvement in our St Mirren Charitable Foundation and running the 1877 Club.

"Alan has been a dedicated and hard-working member of our Board throughout his tenure firstly as an independent Director then co-opted as a SMISA nominated Director during the past 15 months. I have enjoyed working with him and witnessed his significant personal commitment first hand.

"On behalf of the Board I want to record our thanks for everything he has done, and continues to do, for the Club. As part of the St Mirren family, Alan has been a loyal fan all of his life and leaves with our best wishes for the future."

Up Next: Rangers v St Mirren (8th Oct)

St Mirren make the short journey to Ibrox on Saturday to face Rangers in cinch Premiership action.

It's second versus third after Saints made it five wins from six last weekend with a dramatic 2-1 win over Livingston at the SMiSA Stadium.

The game burst into life in the final 20 minutes with Keanu Baccus had putting us ahead on 69 minutes. Livingston were awarded a penalty and Jonah Ayunga was shown a red card seven minutes later, but ex-Saint Sean Kelly fired over from 12 yards. The visitors would equalise on 86 minutes through Bruce Anderson, though there was time for even more drama with Alex Greive scoring the winner in the final minute of normal time to give Saints the three points.

Stephen Robinson's men have also defeated Celtic (2-0), Hibernian (1-0), Dundee United (3-0) and Ross County (1-0) over the last several weeks on their way to sitting in third place in the cinch Premiership.

Rangers sit four points above Saints in second place having won six, drawn one and lost one of their eight league matches this season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side were in Champions League action on Tuesday night losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield. That result came off the back of a 4-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle in the cinch Premiership last Saturday, while they also defeated Dundee United 2-1 at Ibrox before the international break.

Previous

The two sides met three times last season with Rangers winning in each encounter.

Connor Ronan scored a stunning strike in the first meeting to put Saints 1-0 up last October, but two goals in a minute saw Rangers come away with a narrow 2-1 win.

Our only trip to Ibrox last season was on Boxing Day and played in front of just 500 fans with Rangers winning 2-0. Rangers won the only meeting in 2022 when they defeated Saints 4-0 at the SMiSA Stadium in April.

Saints' last win over Rangers was in the Premier Sports Cup in December 2020. Despite falling behind to an early Connor Goldson strike, the Buddies got their noses in front thanks to a double from Jamie McGrath. Steven Davis equalised late in the game for the Gers which looked to be sending the match to extra-time. But there was time for further drama with Conor McCarthy scoring deep into injury time to give us our first win over Rangers since 2011.
