Club Update - Reported incidents of disturbance at Pittodrie

St Mirren Football Club has been in dialogue with Aberdeen Football Club regarding reported incidents of supporter disturbance at Pittodrie earlier this month.

Aberdeen Football Club have informed us that they have completed a comprehensive investigation into the alleged incidents during this match. There has been an acceptance that there are learnings on both sides, with Aberdeen striving to make Pittodrie a safe and welcoming environment for all attending on matchdays.

They are continuing to work together with Police Scotland on the outcomes of the investigation and will take appropriate action if anyone is found guilty of unacceptable conduct on matchdays at Pittodrie.

St Mirren Charitable Foundation Panda Club (11th Dec)

With the St Mirren airdome down due to inclement weather last week, the St Mirren Charitable Foundation cannot provide the pre-match football of Panda Club this weekend. However, they will still be providing Panda Club from 2:30pm-5:15pm.

The St Mirren Charitable Foundation coaches will take care of them during the game in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand, the drop off and pick up will be at Drums Avenue. This is located at the south end of the stadium.

This is a pedestrian gate and is safer, quicker and much easier for both coaches and parents. Please ensure the children are wrapped up this weekend as it will be cold! The coaches will register them, bib them up, and take them into the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand. You can access Drums Avenue via car, but the gate itself is pedestrian access only.

For any other queries please feel free to email, text or WhatsApp!

Renfrewshire Foodbank Bucket Collection to take place on Saturday 11th December

Over the past number of years St Mirren Football Club and its supporters have supported the Renfrewshire Foodbank with collections at the SMiSA Stadium.

These collections have seen St Mirren players, staff and supporters donate thousands upon thousands of meals for those most in need in Renfrewshire.

Unfortunately, due to the impact of Covid, this was not possible last season and with uncertainty over possible rule changes in the next few weeks, it has been decided that a bucket collection will take place this year to help raise funds for the Renfrewshire Foodbank. This will take place at our match against Hibernian on Saturday 11th December 2021. Please note this is a bucket collection to raise money for the Renfrewshire Foodbank. Anyone who wishes to donate food should do so directly to the Renfrewshire Foodbank.

Past experience has highlighted that after the festive period there is a fall off of donations and although the stock is sufficient enough to see the Foodbank through to the New Year, it is sad to report that demand from those most in need quickly depletes many of the items that help make up a basic food parcel. A bucket collection would see the Renfrewshire Foodbank able to help well into the next year and allow them to purchase the items that are essential to sustain families who may struggle to put food on the table.

With recent financial burdens being placed on many of the most vulnerable in our society it is more important than ever that the Renfrewshire Foodbank can provide much needed basic items and the continued support of the people of Renfrewshire will help sustain a level of service that has been maintained over the years.

Volunteers will be present at the access points to the turnstiles from 2pm onwards. They will have identifiable bibs and collection buckets.

Information for travelling supporters

Supporters will be aware that there are already some road closures in Glasgow for COP26 and there is likely to be further disruption until 12/13 November.

We would encourage supporters to leave plenty of time when travelling to Saturday's match due to the anticipated disruption in the central belt.

The Traffic Scotland website provides information on ongoing incidents, links to public transport info and can give access to live camera feeds on a large number of main roads which are likely to be used by supporters. You can also follow their Twitter account for quick-time updates.

St Johnstone have also asked us to make supporters travelling by supporters bus aware of the arrangements for access on Saturday. This can be seen below.

Club Update ahead of Sunday's match

St Mirren Football Club is pleased to confirm that season ticket holders in sections M4 and M6 will be able to take their own seats for the first time this season as a large section of the red zone is removed.

Reduced Red Zone

However, a small section of the red zone will remain at the SMiSA Stadium for this weekend’s cinch Premiership match against Rangers, and for all future matches, to comply with ongoing requirements.

A recent update from the Joint Response Group allowed clubs to make their own decision based on individual risk assessments. After careful consideration taking many factors into account, the club had hoped to scrap the entire red zone at the SMiSA Stadium.

However, should any club wish to continue with 2m physical distancing measures on match days, this must be accommodated by the home clubs as per the existing protocols.

Rangers have informed the club that they require a section for physical distancing at Sunday’s match. This will affect a small section of supporters in M5 who the club has contacted via email to confirm. While we appreciate this is frustrating for those affected, we are bound by current rules to provide this area.

Tickets for Sunday

St Mirren host Rangers on Sunday as we look to maintain our good form with three wins from our last three and six undefeated.

Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand season ticket holders who buy tickets in the Main or West Stands before 2pm on Friday 22nd October will get them at the reduced price of £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Please note these cannot be purchased online. They can only be purchased by visiting the ticket office or over the phone. The ticket office will be open from 10am to 2pm through to Friday, with additional late-night opening on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. On match day the ticket office will be open from 9.30am until kick off at 12pm.

Any Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand season ticket holder who misses the deadline will have to pay the general sale price of £27 for adults and £17 for concessions.

General sale tickets are available in person at the St Mirren ticket office or online. However, as has been in case in previous matches against Celtic and Rangers, you must be pre-registered on the ticket platform to purchase.

We ask that if you plan to purchase your ticket at either ticket office on Sunday before the match that you allow plenty of time to ensure that you don’t miss kick off. Tickets will be available to purchase online in the lead up to the game, so we encourage this as an alternative to buying in person.

West Stand Ticket Kiosk

We are pleased to announce that for the first time this season, the West Stand Ticket Hub will be open pre-match so any supporter wishing to buy a ticket for the West Stand on match day should purchase there and not the Main Stand Ticket Office. Please note West Stand ticket sales will be card only, no cash payments.

Season Tickets

Those who haven’t received their new season tickets can now uplift them at the St Mirren ticket office during ticket office hours. We anticipate the ticket office being extremely busy on match day and would ask that supporters pick them up by close of play on Friday.

Bar code readers

We are aware some supporters had issues with the new turnstile readers at recent matches. Further testing has taken place over the past few weeks and several of the readers have been reconfigured to ease access issues.

Vaccine Passports

Proof of vaccination will not be required at Sunday's match.

We thank you for your continued patience throughout this period and look forward to seeing you on Sunday. #COYS #BeInThatNumber

SMiSA looking for a new representative on club board

Would you be interested in being a director of St Mirren? SMiSA is looking for the right person to be one of our representatives on the club board.

Currently, SMiSA appoint four of the eight directors on the club board, with those positions currently filled by John Needham (club chair), David Riley, Gordon Scott and Alan Wardrop.

However, David let SMiSA know a while ago that - due to changes in his personal and work circumstances - he planned to stand down from the club board at the end of the year. David has represented SMiSA on the club board since 2018, having been our sole rep at that time.

He has played a key role for SMiSA and the club since then – having been one of the sub-group that helped negotiate the deal that delivered fan ownership five years ahead of schedule – and all on the SMiSA board will miss the major contribution he has made.

David will stay in post until we have appointed his successor, who SMiSA hope to have in place for the club’s AGM, likely to be in December. This means they are now looking for expressions of interest in the role.

The successful candidate will be expected to act as the link between the club and SMiSA boards, ensure member views are considered in club decisions, and have the skills and experience to make a positive contribution to the running of the football club.

New SMiSA appointments to the club board are subject to the formal recruitment process they put in place last year, through which John Needham was appointed.

That will see the SMiSA board invite applications, shortlist and interview those who best fit the job description, and select a preferred candidate, who the members will be asked to approve. Ideally they will already be a SMiSA member, but we will consider all applications.

Anyone interested should contact applications@smisa.net and they will send you an application pack. The closing date for applications is Thursday 28 October.
