St Mirren U20s will take on Celtic U20s at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie, tonight in the SPFL Development League.

This will be the Young Buddies second match this week, after a win over St Johnstone on Tuesday night at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.

Goals from Conor McBrearty, Robbie Leitch and Sam Jamieson were enough to see the team run out 3-1 winners.

Entry to the match is free and the kick-off will be at 6pm.

Tomorrow, Saturday 17th February, St Mirren make the trip to West Lothian to face Livingston in a Ladbrokes Championship match-up at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

The referee tomorrow is Alan Muir and he will be assisted by Jordan Stokoe and Liam Butler.

St Mirren Football Club are delighted to announce that Jack Ross will remain manager after recent speculation.

The club received an approach late on Tuesday night and had reluctantly given Barnsley permission to discuss their vacant managerial position with Jack, but he has decided he is committed to St Mirren.

St Mirren Chief Executive Tony Fitzpatrick said: “We are delighted with the news that Jack remains committed to St Mirren Football Club.

"Jack has built something special here and has really pulled everyone together in the right direction.

"It is excellent news for the club and all focus is on trying to meet our targets for the season."

Josh Todd says he's aiming to play his part in a successful season for St Mirren after making a return to action for the U20s on Tuesday night.

The 23 year-old has been out since September after undergoing surgery on a dislocated shoulder suffered in a win against Queen of the South. 

But he made his comeback earlier this week when he started for the development side in their 3-1 win over St Johnstone at The Paisley 2021 Stadium. 

Now the midfielder is keen to make his mark for The Buddies during the rest of the campaign after admitting it was good to be back. 

Speaking to stmirren.com, Todd said: "It was a weird feeling because I just came off the pitch at the end and I thought it's 11 v 11.

I've been training for the last couple of weeks but it was very nice when I sat back and thought about it. 

"I felt quite sharp in periods but when you are getting to the top end and you're running in behind and trying to get back in I was a bit maybe sluggish but all-in-all I felt pretty sharp. 

"It was at the stadium as well so there was a bit more added enjoyment. It was a good feeling. 

"It's been stop start but I'd like to say I'm doing well in training. Hopefully if an opportunity comes up I'm going to be ready to show the gaffer what I can do."

Saints currently sit 14 points clear at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship and the Englishman knows it'll be difficult to break into a team that is doing so well at the moment. 

But he's hopeful that his hard work in training will see him involved in the next few weeks as he aims to contribute to a successful season.

I don't know if I'll get a start in the next few weeks because the team is flying," he said. "But if it is from the bench I'd like to say I can put a shift in and hopefully come on with an assist or a goal and try to put my chip in on the season. 

"Six weeks ago I was down in the dumps but if you look back over the season and you get maybe four sub appearances and two starts you count that as a successful season from my point of view. If we get promoted or to the play-offs and I've chipped in with a few goals or a few assists that can turn in to a successful season for me to be honest. 

"I'm maybe not as fit but I'm fresh. Hopefully a chance comes up maybe a few appearances on the bench and work my way back in. You never know in football but I'd like to get back in the team at some point."

The St Mirren Fans Council 2018 Burns Supper is sold out! 

The Burns Supper takes place at the Corporate Suite at the Paisley 2021 Stadium on Friday 23rd February 2018 - timed to avoid the height of the Burns Season making it even easier to attend!

The evening will be rich in the traditions of Burns with recitations and music of the highest quality. And, as Paisley is home to Robert Tannahill, they'll be adding a Touch o' Tannahill to the proceedings.

Black and White Magazine's Gordian Mothersole will host an evening that will see folk singer, Burns aficionado and national treasure, Alastair McDonald provide Burns song and verse.

Alastair will be joined by David Brown whose Tam o' Shanter and Holy Willie's Prayer will take you back in time.

Other speakers already booked include George Adam MSP, Chair o' SMiSA, Ian Brown, so much a St Mirren fan he bleeds black and white, and Michelle Evans of PFA Scotland.

Doors open at 6:30pm with a 7pm start. Entry is by ticket only.

The St Mirren U20s picked up their first three points of 2018 with a fine 3-1 win over St Johnstone at the Paisley 2021 Stadium last night. 

The Young Buddies had to come from behind to pick up the win in the SPFL Development League - a win that moved The U20s up to 11th place. 

It was the visitors who started brightly with experienced defender Brian Easton denied in the early proceedings by a good stop from David Wilson. But the visitors took the lead with just 13 minutes played. A neat crossfield pass was headed down by Shaun Struthers into the path of Cameron Thomson who volleyed into the top corner. 

The Buddies found themselves less than 10 minutes later however. Robbie Leitch was fouled deep in the St Johnstone half as he tried to burst forward. Josh Todd, making his return to playing after dislocating his shoulder in September, swung the ball into the box where it met the head of Conor McBrearty whose header looped high over St Johnstone goalkeeper Ross Sinclair and into the net. 

St Mirren took control after half time and Conor O'Keefe was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet when he found himself one-on-one with Sinclair. The winger elected to lob the goalkeeper and wasn't far away as it drifted just wide. 

Todd and McBrearty had efforts from long range before Danny Mullen forced a fingertip save from Sinclair on the hour mark. 

The Buddies wouldn't have to wait much longer for a second goal when Leitch scored a terrific effort on 63 minutes. The midfielder received the ball from substitute Sam Jamieson, taking a touch before picking his spot in the top left corner. 

Jamieson turned provider to goalscorer when he sealed the win on 82 minutes. The striker played a one-two with Cameron MacPherson near the edge of the St Johnstone box and curled the ball low into the right corner to give the hosts all three points.

The St Mirren U20s are in action at The Paisley 2021 Stadium this evening as they host St Johnstone.

It's the first of two fixtures for the U20s this week with The Young Buddies also taking on Celtic at The Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Friday night.
