Statement from Chairman, John Needham

Statement from Chairman, John Needham

On behalf of myself and my fellow directors, I want to thank you all for your incredible support throughout what has been a memorable season for our football club. I also wish to praise manager Stephen Robinson, all his staff and the players for making this a season to remember.

We made the decision to retain The Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand at the start of the season for #OurFamily for all HOME matches and it was a decision that paid dividends as we finally achieved our long-stated ambition of finishing in the top six and remain in with a chance of a place in Europe.

You’ve backed us in tremendous numbers with record season ticket sales (3,800) as well as more than 110,000 spectators visiting the SMiSA Stadium in 2022/23 – a new record at Greenhill Road. We’ve also achieved our highest average attendances at the SMiSA Stadium with an average of 6,287 per match and sold out for just the third time ever at this stadium.

We watched on with pride as Keanu Baccus became the first ever St Mirren player to play at the World Cup where he faced off against eventual winner Lionel Messi in the knockout rounds. Alex Greive also wrote his name into the history books by becoming the most capped international player while at St Mirren.

We’ve shown our community spirit with the successes of our 'Help a Buddie' scheme and our school ticket initiatives and we’ll continue to look after our community with these and more schemes next season.

There have been challenges as well, but with your unwavering support, we have made significant progress and achieved so many great things together this season. Without you, #OurFamily, none of this is possible and we are immensely grateful for that loyalty. We hope this season acts as a platform for even greater success next season.

With inflation currently running at over 10% we have taken the decision to limit the increase in Season Ticket prices for 2023/24 to c.5%.

It’s important to note that we remain one of the lowest priced season tickets in the Scottish Premiership. For example, an early bird adult ticket in the Main or West Stand costs just £18.40 per match based on 19 home league matches, while an early bird adult ticket in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand works out at just £16.80 per match. Concessions are only £12.40 per match in the Main and West Stand and just £7.60 per match in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand. Added to that, our family ticket provides amazing value, working out at just £31 per family of five on early bird. We are keen to be as inclusive as possible and feel this is a really cost effective option for a family day out. Fans in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand will now have all home games included in their Season Ticket price following the successful decision to retain three stands for home fans at all fixtures.

I hope you’ll agree that we have struck the right balance in terms of limiting the price increase whilst we try to cover our increased costs.

There will be a three-week loyalty period to retain your seats and we have compiled all the detailed information you’ll need ahead of season tickets going on sale, this will be provided to you when the tickets go on sale, on Monday 22nd May.

Given the team’s success on the park this season we hope to break even more records in terms of Season Ticket sales for 2023/24 so I urge you to sign up as soon as you can and help us smash the 4,000 sales target we’ve set.

Once again, to #OurFamily, I want to say thank you for your continued support. Let’s build on the success of this season. Together we are determined to give you a football club you can be proud of.
