The Buddies came within 10 minutes of taking a point when we last played Rangers in April. Two Mark O'Hara goals had the game poised at 2-2, but three late goals saw Rangers come away with a 5-2 victory at Ibrox.
Our last home win over the Light Blues came in December 2020 when we knocked the Ibrox side out of the League Cup with a dramatic late Conor McCarthy goal seeing us win 3-2 at The SMiSA Stadium.

It's Saints' second to last away match of the 2022/23 season with a top five finish still within reach as the Buddies sit three points off fifth place Hibernian and four points from fourth placed Hearts. The Buddies were left gutted last weekend after an injury-time equaliser saw Saints draw 2-2 with Hearts at the SMiSA Stadium, but a top five finish remains a possibility.
Celtic suffered just their second domestic defeat of the season last weekend as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to rivals Rangers at Ibrox. Ange Postecoglou's side were crowned Champions the week before after a 2-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle in the first match after the split.

St Mirren are one of only two sides to have defeated Celtic in the cinch Premiership this season having beaten Ange Postecoglou's men 2-0 in September. Mark O'Hara and Jonah Ayunga scored the goals as we secured our first home league win against the Hoops since 2010.
Celtic have won the other three meetings between the two this season, but despite emphatic sounding scorelines (0-4, 1-5, 1-5) Saints made life difficult for the Hoops.
Saints were also the last side to defeat Celtic at Celtic Park in domestic action going back to January 2021 when Kristian Dennis and Ilkay Durmus scored in a 2-1 victory.

St Mirren host Hearts at The SMiSA Stadium on Saturday in our penultimate home match of the 2022/23 season.
Saints were narrowly beaten by Hibernian at Easter Road in our first post-split fixture. Alex Greive netted in the second-half, but it wasn't enough to earn a share of the spoils after two first-half goals from the Hibees. The Buddies currently sit in sixth place in the cinch Premiership on 44 points.
Hearts come into the match sitting in fourth place - four points above Saints. Interim Hearts boss Steven Naismith saw his side reduced to 10 men on Sunday as they lost 2-0 at home to Celtic. That was the Jambos sixth loss in seven league matches, but their performance against Celtic, married with a 6-1 home win over Ross County before the split, will have given Hearts a boost.

St Mirren return to cinch Premiership action this weekend as we head into the final five matches of the season.
Saints achieved a first top six finish in the current format after picking up 44 points from the first 33 matches and ensured a highest top-flight finish since 1985. Now focus is on the race for a European spot as the Buddies travel to Easter Road on Saturday sitting level on points with opponents Hibernian.
Hibernian sit in fifth place by virtue of goal difference and a fifth place finish could be enough for a European spot this season if Celtic are to beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup Final.
Both sides will also be aiming to close the gap on fourth place Hearts who are four points ahead.

St Mirren are aiming to secure a first top-half finish since 1984/85 when Kilmarnock visit the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday.
Saints would guarantee a top six spot with a win over Killie, while a draw would likely also be enough due to our superior goal difference on Livingston. Saints sit in fifth place going into the match - a point ahead of Hibernian in sixth and two points ahead of Livingston in seventh.
The Buddies were 10 minutes away from all but guaranteeing a top six spot last weekend with a Mark O'Hara double seeing us drawing 2-2 with Rangers at Ibrox heading into the final stretch of the match. But three quickfire goals saw the hosts win 5-2 to take all the points.
Kilmarnock will be looking to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat to league leaders Celtic at Rugby Park on Sunday. Derek McInnes' side dropped into the relegation play-off spot following Dundee United's win over Motherwell, though they sit level on points with United and just four points off ninth place St Johnstone.

The Buddies have taken seven points from their last three matches and know a first ever top six finish in the current league format could be secured this weekend. Rangers won 4-0 when the Buddies visited Ibrox in October, though that result probably didn't tell the full story of the match with Stephen Robinson's side creating a couple of good chances in Glasgow before conceding two goals in the final 20 minutes.
