Saints go into Tuesday's match after a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Kilmarnock that left the Buddies four points adrift in the relegation play-off spot with two league matches remaining.
Aberdeen defeated Dundee United 2-0 at Pittodrie on Saturday to move to within three points of the Arabs who occupy seventh place. That extended Stephen Robinson's men's unbeaten run to four matches after wins over Kilmarnock (1-0) and Hibernian (2-0) at Pittodrie as well as a 2-2 draw away to Livingston.
The two sides have met three times this season in the William Hill Premiership. The Buddies were victorious in the last meeting, defeating Aberdeen 2-0 at The SMiSA Stadium in April. That was the Dons' last league defeat. Richard King's last-gasp equaliser saw Saints take a point in a 3-3 draw in December in what was our only visit to Pittodrie this season. Aberdeen won 1-0 at The SMiSA Stadium in October after an injury-time goal from Marko Lazetic.
