St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Tunmise Sobowale from Swindon Town.
The 26-year-old right wing-back becomes our latest summer signing as he joins Saints on a two-year deal that keeps him at the club until summer 2027.
Born in Ireland, Tunmise began his career at his hometown club Waterford. He would move to Spain in 2018 to join Hércules before returning to Ireland with Finn Harps.
Tunmise rejoined Waterford in 2020 where he played with Roland Idowu and Richard Taylor. His form at the Irish side saw him win a move to Shrewsbury Town where he again played with Idowu, before joining Swindon Town last summer where he made 44 appearances.
Speaking to stmirren.com after completing his signing, Tunmise said: "I’m really excited.
I spoke to the gaffer and saw how close everyone is and how tight it is as a club. That was something I loved to see and I’m excited to be a part of it.
"I’ve spoken to some players that were previously here and they’ve had nothing but good things to say about the club.
"I think it is the perfect place for me to play my football right now and to enjoy it. I want to now do the best I can for myself and the club."
Manager Stephen Robinson added: "We believe Tunmise has real quality in terms of his athleticism, his pace and his energy.
"He’s coming in to compete with Jayden [Richardson] for a place in the team. He can play at right-sided centre-half or as a real attacking right wing-back with his pace. It’s another bit of competition which we need in the squad."
