Form

Saints picked up a point in the William Hill Premiership last weekend following a goalless draw with Motherwell at The SMiSA Stadium.

The Buddies reached the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup after a 2-1 win over Ayr United on matchday four saw Stephen Robinson's side top Group D.

Hearts have made an impressive start to the season following Derek McInnes' appointment as manager in the summer. The Jam Tarts won Group E in the Premier Sports Cup after four victories in which they scored four goals in each match.

McInnes' side have followed up that winning run coming into the William Hill Premiership season. An opening day 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie came before a last-gasp win over Dundee United on Sunday where Stuart Findlay's injury-time goal gave Hearts a 3-2 win at Tannadice.

Hearts sneaked by Saints on penalties the last time the sides met at The SMiSA Stadium. It was Scottish Cup action in February where the Jam Tarts won 4-2 on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after 120 minutes.

Famously, the last time the two teams met in this competition was the Final in 2013. Not that anyone will need reminding, but goals from Esmael Goncalves, Steven Thompson and Conor Newton saw Saints win 3-2 at Hampden and bring the cup back to Paisley for the first time.

The Officials

Steven McLean is the referee on Saturday. There is no VAR in place for this match.
