Form
The Buddies came close to taking a point away to Celtic on the opening day of the season.
Saints' resistance was finally broken on 87 minutes when Luke McCowan scored the only goal of the match to give Celtic a 1-0 victory at Celtic Park. That ended a run of 10 without defeat in competitive action for Stephen Robinson's side, but there were plenty of positives to take from Sunday's match heading into the rest of the season.
Motherwell snatched a late point at home to Rangers on matchday one. After falling behind in the first-half, the Steelmen's persistence paid off as when Emmanuel Longelo netted in the 87th minute to grab a share of the spoils for Jens Berthel Askou's men.
Danish manager Askou took over the Steelmen in the summer following the surprise departure of Michael Wimmer. Askou's style of play has impressed the 'Well support on their way to qualification from Group G in the Premier Sports Cup.
The Steelmen were unbeaten against Saints in three matches last season. Despite holding a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Caolan Boyd-Munce and Killian Phillips, Motherwell managed to take a point when the teams last met in March thanks to a double from Callum Slattery. Tony Watt scored an injury-time winner for the Steelmen on their last visit to The SMiSA Stadium back in March.
The Officials
The referee on Saturday is Ross Hardie with Greg Aitken on VAR duty.
