An external defibrillator has been fitted outside The SMiSA Stadium thanks to a kind donation from the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants.
Located at the North East corner of the Main Stand on Greenhill Road, next to the entrance of Club 1877, the defibrillator is accessible 24/7 and registered on the National Defibrillator Network.
A defibrillator is a life-saving device that can help restore normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest by delivering an electric shock to the heart.
According to the British Heart Foundation, there are more than 30,000 deaths in the UK each year from out of hospital cardiac arrests. Prompt CPR and defibrillation can more than double someone’s chances of survival.
St Mirren General Manager Lynsey McLean said: "As a community venue that hosts significant numbers of people on a regular basis, it’s important that we can provide something as important as a defibrillator.
"We are very thankful to the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants for their incredible gesture in donating the equipment."
Tracey Houston, Joint President of the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants, added: "The Rotary Club of Paisley Callants has been a fixture in the town since 1982 and in keeping with Rotary’s motto of ‘Service Above Self’ our members regularly serve the local community and raise funds for worthy causes.
Over the last two years the club has provided funding towards installation of defibrillators at Mill & Brae Hotel, St Georges Church buildings at Causeyside Street and Glenburn and is now proud to be a partner of St Mirren Football Club."
