St Mirren Football Club would like to address concerns surrounding our wheelchair, ambulant disabled supporters’ and carer tickets.
This season we had administered our policy more tightly than in previous years. We must stress that this was not done for financial gain. This was strictly to ensure fairness for all supporters.
Clearly, we cannot respond to individual cases via social media or discuss them with any other interested parties. However, we fully acknowledge that this tightening of policy wasn’t effectively communicated, and some supporters have been adversely affected. The implementation could and should have been handled better and we apologise. We have been listening to supporters and understand the sensitivities around this matter. As a fan-owned club, we value measured feedback from supporters and wish to assure them that we do care, we do listen, and we do want to improve.
While we have already renewed the vast majority of those affected, with all wheelchair season ticket holders from last season renewed, we will be ensuring that all 2024/25 ambulant disabled season ticket holders get their 2025/26 season ticket at the ambulant disabled rate pending a club review. On an individual basis, refunds will be offered on request to those that have already changed category and bought at full price. Please visit the Ticket Office to claim your refund. We encourage anyone with any further questions or need for support to please visit or contact the Ticket Office where our staff will be happy to help.
Going forward, the club will review its policies and processes regarding the level of PIP/DLA/ADP required, as well as the communication within the policies and processes, to draw up an improved policy. We are currently engaging with relevant parties and individuals as we look to put in place a working group to improve our policies and processes and will update supporters further when the working group has been established. This working group will be formed in the coming weeks. The findings of the review will help shape an improved policy and this will be clearly communicated with all supporters upon its completion.
We can also confirm that a cross section of operational staff will be undertaking training in the coming months regarding the ongoing support of disabled fans and the wider community.
We thank you for your continued support of the club.
