St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Ryan Mullen who joins us on two-year deal.
The 24-year-old shot stopper signs for Saints until summer 2027 following the expiry of his contract at Championship side Morton.
Ryan began his career as a youth team player at Celtic and had spells at Queen’s Park and Clyde before joining Morton. During his time at Cappielow, the goalkeeper made 65 appearances, keeping 25 clean sheets.
He will come in and challenge for a place between the sticks as manager Stephen Robinson runs the rule over Ryan and Peter Urminsky during pre-season.
Speaking to stmirren.com, the manager said: "Ryan has a lot of experience in the Championship and did well for Morton last year.
"It provides real competition with himself and Peter Urminsky. We’re going to look at it over pre-season. We feel as if we have two very good young goalkeepers with great potential.
We’re delighted to have Ryan at the club and feel like there’s a lot more to come."
After signing, Ryan added: "All my initial chats were very positive.
"When I spoke to the manager and Langers, it was about trying to develop, get better and progress from there.
"Hopefully I can come in and try and take the number one jersey, but there's going to be a lot of competition when you're playing in the Premiership.
After playing in the championship, taking the step up to the Premiership was always a big ambition of mine.
"I feel as if I’ve been ready since my first season in the Championship. I knew I wanted to play in the top-flight, I wanted to be in the Premiership and I feel ready to go. It’s all about getting my head down, getting to work and trying to stake my claim in the team."
