Saints head into the final part of season 2024/25 as our post-split fixtures get underway at home to Rangers on Saturday.
Stephen Robinson's men secured a third consecutive top six finish in the William Hill Premiership following our dramatic 3-2 win over Ross County on matchday 33.
Saturday's match kicks off the first of our final five matches this season with the Buddies sitting in sixth place, nine points behind Dundee United and Aberdeen who sit in fourth and fifth respectively.
Match Details
St Mirren v Rangers
Competition: William Hill Premiership
Date: Saturday 26th April 2025
Kick-off: 3pm
Venue: The SMiSA Stadium
The Opposition
With leaders Celtic requiring just a point to secure the league title, Rangers head to The SMiSA Stadium knowing they could guarantee a runners-up position in the William Hill Premiership. Barry Ferguson's men sit 13 points clear of third-place Hibernian and a win in Paisley, or defeat for Hibernian away to Aberdeen, will ensure the Ibrox side finish second in the league.
Rangers come into Saturday's match following their exit from the UEFA Europa League last week after a 2-0 loss away to Athletic Bilbao. The light blues' last league outing saw them fightback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the match.
While their form at Ibrox has saw Rangers lose their previous three home league matches, including a 2-0 win for Saints in Govan in February, they are unbeaten away from home in the William Hill Premiership since losing 2-1 at The SMiSA Stadium in December when Caolan Boyd-Munce's injury-time strike saw us defeat Gers for the first time since 2020. That win, coupled with our victory at Ibrox, means we have won our last two against Rangers.
Players celebrate our win at Ibrox in February. It was the first time Saints had won at Ibrox since 1991 and the first time we boasted back-to-back wins over Rangers since 1980.
