St Mirren Announce Strategic Charity Partnership with Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde

St Mirren selected Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde as their strategic charity partner as St Mirren’s vision to place people and the local community at the centre of decision-making aligns with the ethos Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde also lives by.

St Mirren has the overall mission to be the best community centred development football club in Scotland and have announced a three-year strategic partnership with Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde to widen the club's reach to local families and provide direct help to those in need of extra support. The new partnership between St Mirren and Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde has been further strengthened with the appointment of St Mirren Chief Operating Officer, Keith Lasley as the Home-Start Ambassador for the Renfrewshire area.

We are fan-owned through The St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMiSA). The move into fan ownership came in conjunction with charity and social enterprise Kibble who, in 2020, bought a 27 percent stake to become part-owners of the club. The club has already built a strong sense of community through school visits, ticket donations and regular charitable initiatives including the set-up of clothing drive last winter.

The St Mirren Charitable Foundation and Street Stuff have a profound impact on the wider community. The Foundation run over 20 programmes from 'Fit and Fed' to the Walking Football Club and each week sees over 500 people come along to join in with the various fun sports clubs and group sessions. The community reach is strengthened through Street Stuff, which will be celebrating 15 years of delivery in April 2024. Their diversionary approach has contributed to a sustained reduction in reported youth disorder and anti-social behaviour with activities including multi-sports, gaming (within our multipurpose youth buses), community litter picks, as well as the wide range of current topical educational inputs, all of which are delivered by community staff from St Mirren.

The club wants to build on the momentum and use its power to offer even more tangible help, building on existing activities to create the greatest community impact possible.

St Mirren have previously worked with Home-Start who provide practical and emotional support to parents/carers with children until five-years-old. Families are recommended to Home-Start from Health Visitors and GPs as well as directly contacting the charity themselves. By establishing the existing relationship as an official strategic charity partnership, the two organisations can combine resources to provide immediate respite to real-life families.

Together, St Mirren and Home-Start will make a bigger difference than either organisation could working in silo.

Keith Lasley, Chief Operating Officer of St Mirren, said: "In the past year, Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde have supported over 200 families and St Mirren are committed to working side-by-side to deliver charitable projects that families can directly benefit from and raise the profile of the work the charity carries out daily.

It is essential that help is accessible to families who ask for support. We as a club are determined to use our power to help Home-Start ensure parents/carers and grandparents feel like someone is listening and available to them in their time of need.

"Here at St Mirren our success relies on more than a result on the pitch, the club’s sense of achievement very much factors in the impact we’ve had on those living within the community - how many community projects we’ve been a part of, the number of families who come along on match day. We want to make Paisley proud by saying St Mirren has made a difference to the lives of families who surround the stadium.

"It is a privilege for me to take on the role of Home-Start Ambassador for Renfrewshire. There will be full involvement from myself and the entire club and we look forward to meeting families, working with the staff team, launching valuable initiatives and fundraising for such an important and worthwhile cause."

Lisa Carberry, Interim Director of Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, said: "To have St Mirren support Home-Start truly exemplifies community spirit. We are looking forward to growing our existing relationship with the club as we partner together over the shared interest of helping families.

"Both organisations have the same vision, to bring people together, and for families to know there is a community open to them. Parenting can be rewarding, but it can also bring challenges. Home-Start understands that not all parenting journeys are the same for everyone therefore Home-Start is there to help families navigate their way through these new and sometimes daunting times. Home-Start is delighted to be able to receive the support and resources that a partnership with the local Scottish Premiership Football Club can offer. The goal is always to provide the best support possible to families across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde."

Help a Buddie | Ralston Day Centre

Our latest Help a Buddie tickets were delivered to the Ralston Day Centre ahead of Saturday’s match against St Johnstone.

Captain Mark O’Hara visited our St Mirren Training Ground neighbours to hand across 10 tickets for use by their service users and staff. They were treated to a four-goal showing from Saints as we ran out 4-0 winners against St Johnstone at The SMiSA Stadium.

The centre caters for older people who have a diagnosis of dementia, or who have a reduced physical capacity. To find out more about the facility please click HERE.

Saints took a point on our last visit to Celtic Park. Curtis Main scored a double either side of a Kyogo goal to have the Buddies ahead in Glasgow. Saints had further chances to extend our lead, but Celtic would equalise through Callum McGregor with less than 10 minutes remaining to take a share of the spoils.

Stephen Robinson's side did defeat Celtic at The SMiSA Stadium last season with Mark O'Hara and Jonah Ayunga scoring in a 2-0 win.

Celtic were victorious in the other three meetings across the cinch Premiership and Scottish Cup.

Our last win at Celtic Park came in January 2021 - with Saints the last side to defeat Celtic at Celtic Park domestically. Kristian Dennis and Ilkay Durmus scored as we won 2-1.

Manager happy with clinical performance

Our second-half performance was very good. We were very clinical."

Stephen Robinson gives his thoughts on Saints' 4-0 win at home to St Johnstone.

Mandron at the double as Saints cruise to win

St Mirren gained supremacy in the first Battle of the Saints of the season as they cruised to a 4-0 win over St Johnstone in Paisley.

Neither side had played a competitive game for three weeks due to the international break and the weather and it showed in a disappointing first half. However, it was brightened up as the interval approached when Keanu Baccus sent a tremendous shot sailing past Dimitar Mitov into the top corner.

It didn't take the Buddies long to double their lead after the break, Mikael Mandron finishing clinically after a horrendous error in the visiting backline, the striker then slamming home the third 20 minutes from the end after tremendous work from Toyosi Olusanya. Olusanya went close to getting on the scoresheet himself in the final minute only for his shot to hit the post, Greg Kiltie on hand to tuck away the loose ball.

Mandron had got the nod from the start instead of Olusanya, Ryan Flynn replacing Ryan Strain following his red card against Rangers three weeks ago. Nicky Clark led the attack for the visitors, with former Buddie Cammy MacPherson on the bench and Graham Carey missing entirely.

The opening exchanges could best be described as turgid and it took nearly half an hour for either side to muster anything amounting to an attempt on goal, Clark's effort being deflected well wide before Dara Costelloe and Liam Gordon both sent shots well over.

St Mirren had done nothing of note in attack but that all changed 10 minutes before the break. The Buddies broke on the counter attack and good play between Greg Kiltie and Mandron allowed the former to lay the ball off for Keanu Baccus, who curled a tremendous shot beyond the grasp of Dimitar Mitov into the top corner from 25 yards. It was a goal completely out of keeping with the 35 minutes that had preceded it but no one in the home support cared.

The Paisley Saints looked a different team and went hunting a second, Baccus firing over from the edge of the box as he looked to double his tally. It was then St Johnstone's turn to counter but it ended with a tame header from Diallang Jaiyesimi that was no trouble for Zach Hemming as the half came to a close.

Mandron's header was similarly straightforward for Mitov as hostilities resumed but the striker made no mistake just seconds later, gleefully intercepting a horrendous attempt by James Brown to chest the ball back to his keeper before slotting home to double the Buddies' lead.

Matt Smith shot over as the visitors tried to respond, Costelloe's header at the back post going wide. Hemming was equal to a shot from sub Jay Turner-Cooke before the Buddies put the game to bed with 20 minutes left. Mandron sent sub Olusanya away down the left before charging into the box for the return pass, slamming it past Mitov for his second and the hosts' third.

Unsurprisingly, the game petered out after that, efforts from Jaiyesimi and Kane causing Hemming few problems while Olusanya dragged a shot well wide as he tried to put the icing on the cake. Instead it was Kiltie who had that honour, Olusanya seeing his shot from Alex Greive's pass hit the post, the midfielder pouncing to pop the ball into the net and complete a remarkable afternoon.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium
