No Knives, Better Lives Campaign

No Knives, Better Lives Campaign

Police Scotland is launching a month-long awareness campaign across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde to highlight the dangers and consequences of violence and to signpost young people, parents, carers and teachers to support and educational resources.

The campaign is being led locally in partnership with Fearless, the youth service of Crimestoppers, and No Knives, Better Lives (NKBL), with activity taking place throughout April in schools, online and at two local football fixtures.

As part of the campaign, No Knives, Better Lives will support awareness activity at Saturday's William Hill Premiership match between St Mirren and Aberdeen at The SMiSA Stadium. This will include NKBL messaging displayed on screens within the stadium and Police Scotland Youth Volunteers handing out leaflets outside the ground.

Alongside the matchday activity, information will be shared with parents, carers and teachers from all the region’s secondary schools, signposting them to resources from both Fearless and No Knives, Better Lives.

Inspector Laura Magill, of Police Scotland, said: "Becoming involved in violent crime can have devastating and life-changing consequences, not only for those directly involved, but also for families, friends and the wider community.

"This campaign is about raising awareness, encouraging conversations and making sure young people know where they can turn for help, advice and support. By working with partners such as Fearless and No Knives, Better Lives, we can reach young people in a variety of settings and help reinforce the message that carrying a knife is never the answer."

Anyone seeking more information during the campaign will be able to access resources from Fearless and No Knives, Better Lives through local schools, campaign partners and Police Scotland’s social media channels.
