Currently on loan at Ross County.
James Scott joined St Mirren on an initial loan in January 2024 from English League One side Exeter City before making his stay permanent in summer 2024.
The forward came through at Motherwell under Stephen Robinson and won a move to Hull City before a loan spell at Hibernian. Following his exit from Hull, James moved to Exeter City in January 2023.
In August 2025, James moved on a season-long loan to Ross County.
