James Bolton signed a one-year deal with Saints in July 2023 following the expiry of his contact at English League One champions Plymouth Argyle.
The centre-half, who can play at right-back, began his professional career at Macclesfield Town and had spells at Halifax, Gateshead, Shrewsbury and Portsmouth before joining Argyle in 2021.
