Saints On Track Campaign Update Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 July 2008

Around 25 Saints fans gathered at Paisley St.James station earlier today to join in the media launch of our "Saints On Track" campaign.

Saints cup winning captain and legend Billy Abercromby was there to lend his support to the movement, which aims to have the station renamed as Paisley St.Mirren in recognition of our new home, which sits just 100 yards away from the platform.

The Evening Times (click for story) and Paisley Daily Express were on hand and will be running the story over the next couple of days, and we will now formally launch our campaign by sending letters to officials at Scotrail and Network Rail as we aim to some momentum going. We also had support from local councillors who have also undertaken to bring the matter up within the local authority.

Thanks again to everyone who came along, more on the campaign later this week.

Fixtures for Season 08-09 Print E-mail
Monday, 16 June 2008

Saints will open the new season with a daunting away trip to face Champions Celtic at Parkhead. The game will be played on Sunday August 10th with a 12:30 kick off to accommodate live television coverage of the match. The buddies then face Kilmarnock at home the following week as the last ever season at Love Street gets underway.

It looks likely that the last ever game at Love Street could be Saturday January 3rd as the club entertain Motherwell. They will be the last of the 12 SPL clubs to travel to Paisley.

Rangers Video Highlights Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 May 2008

Saints close the season with a 0-3 reverse at home to title chasing Rangers. A pretty disappointing night could probably have been a lot worse as the visitors ran Saints ragged at times.

Kris Boyd opened the scoring after 4 minutes, and Jean Claude Darcheville hit a brace as the men in stripes struggled to cope with the beaten UEFA cup finalists.

Best for the buddies on the night as usual was Will Haining who performed well alongside John Potter who has also finished the season very strongly. Franco Miranda got a rare start and also showed up well.

All thoughts now turn to next season, which will be a historic one for the club and one which is sure to see a vastly different first team squad as well. Exciting times !
