SPFL Tennent's Sixes Kicks Off this weekend!
St Mirren will take part in the SPFL Tennent's Sixes at Braehead Arena this weekend!
Club legend Hugh Murray will manage the St Mirren side that takes to the field this weekend.
A true St Mirren great, Hugh made a club record 468 official appearances between 1997 & 2012 and won the First Division in 1999/2000 & 2005/2006 as well as the 2005 Challenge Cup. Hugh was due to take on the dual role of player-manager, but unfortunately suffered an injury that rules him out of playing.
The former club captain will lead a squad that consists of Ludovic Roy, Paul Rudden, Lee Mair, Scott Walker, Barry McLaughlin, Simon Lappin, Mark Corcoran, Jose Quitongo and David McKenna.
The SPFL Tennent's Sixes takes place this weekend at Braehead Arena. St Mirren will take on Rangers in the final game of the Saturday afternoon session, before facing Kilmarnock in the Saturday evening session.
Tickets are still available via Braehead Arena. Get yours now online - https://spfltennentssixes.co.uk/.
The original Tennent’s Sixes captured the imagination of a generation of Scottish football fans during its nine-year stretch from 1984 until 1993. The joint organisers, the SPFL and Braehead Arena, have worked quietly for months to give fans of all ages a family experience blending nostalgia with a modern twist.
Saturday group stages will start with three regionalised groups of four, with each group winner and runner-up progressing to the knockout stages, along with the two best thirdplaced teams.
To keep fans on the edge of their seats, every game will have a winner with a bonus point for a penalty shootout win in the event of a draw. The sin bin will also be making a comeback and organisers hope it will capture the imagination of football fans and families alike.
