Dapo Mebude scored late in the second-half to give the League One Diamonds the points on matchday three.

The hosts created the best opportunities in the match with Saints goalkeeper Grant Tamosevicius forced into action on 16 minutes. The stopper made a terrific save to push away an AJ Bridge free-kick from 25 yards. Buddies defender Innes Clark made a brilliant goal-saving block five minutes later to deny Liam McLeish.

Saints' best chance came with 10 minutes of the first-half remaining. Callum Penman picked out Ben Stoddart in the box, but the strike came off the face of an Airdrie defender.

Into the second-half, Tamosevicius was down well to push away a strike McLeish on 62 minutes. The 'keeper got two strong hands behind McLeish's low curling strike. The Buddies' best chance of the second-half came five minutes later when Jack Lavery fired over from the edge of the area.

Airdrie scored the only goal of the game on 77 minutes when Mebude forced home from close-range. The corner was only headed out as far as an Airdrie player who sent it back in for Sam Fisher who nodded down for Mebude to turn into the net.
