Roland Idowu departs for FC Botosani
St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Roland Idowu has left the club to join Romanian SuperLiga side FC Botosani.
The Irishman departs after two years at the club where he made 80 appearances and scored eight goals. The club has secured an undisclosed fee and sell-on.
Initially joining Saints on loan from Shrewsbury Town in July 2024, Roland featured 36 times in his debut season, scoring on his William Hill Premiership debut in a 3-0 win at home to Hibernian. The forward netted a dramatic late winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Ross County that secured our third top six finish in a row.
After impressing in his first season, Roland would sign a permanent deal with the Buddies in June 2025. The 24-year-old made 38 appearances last season, scoring three goals and registering three assists.
We sincerely thank Roland for his contributions during his time at the club and wish him the best of luck for the future.
