Paul Nsio joins Saints on loan from Rangers
St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Paul Nsio from Rangers, subject to clearance.
The 20-year-old joins Saints on a season-long loan from the Ibrox club and becomes our seventh addition of the summer window.
Paul spent last season on loan at Raith Rovers and helped the Championship side win the KDM Evolution trophy in April. The midfielder impressed during his time at Stark’s Park and was voted as Raith’s Young Player of the Year. He made 31 appearances for Rovers, scoring three goals.
Manager Craig McLeish admitted that Paul’s versatility and physicality were key attributes that led to the club bringing him in for the season.
Speaking to stmirren.com, Craig said: "Paul is a player we've watched a lot of.
"We’ve spoken to a lot of people who've worked with him at Raith last season and the guys at Rangers this year.
"He's had a really strong pre-season with Rangers. He started finding himself playing at right back as well. We know he can play as a six and can play higher up as an eight in midfield, so he gives us a number of different options to use him. He needs the next step up of level in his career and we get a really strong player who can add value to our group as well.
"That versatility is a big part of bringing Paul in. His signing adds physicality to the group as well and he's another one who's hungry, energetic and desperate to get to the highest level he possibly can.
"It's finding a balance of developing your own players, bringing your own permanent ones in, but also looking at the loan market to some bigger clubs to try and find the profile of player that we don't have access to within our own academy. Paul fits that mould where we don't have someone of that calibre, physical attributes and athleticism within our own building right now."
Paul told stmirren.com: "I've always wanted to develop and play at the highest level. I feel like this is a good test for me to see what I'm capable of.
"I just love to win. I’m ambitious, I want to help the team and the gaffer, and I want to get the fans behind us.
"I know some of the lads here like Eseosa Sule and Roland Idowu. I’ve spoken to some of the senior boys as well and hopefully I'll just learn more from them and it'll help my development as a player."
