On 6 October 1877, St Mirren played their first match, beating Johnstone Britannia 1–0 at Shortroods. On 6 October 2027, we mark 150 years of football in Paisley. That anniversary will be the high point of a year of celebrations for everyone connected with our club.

Generations of players, staff and supporters have built that history. It includes being the only Scottish winner of the Anglo-Scottish Cup, our Scottish Cup wins of 1926, 1959 and 1987, the League Cup in 2013 and, only last December, a fifth major honour at Hampden; becoming the first fan-owned club in the UK to win a major trophy. It is a story that belongs to the town as much as to the club, and the next twelve months are about celebrating it together.

Our 150th anniversary identity

Our anniversary identity goes back to where it all began. The crest is a reimagining of the coat of arms. It is finished in gold, carries a scroll reading St Mirren F.C. | 1877–2027, and sits above a decorative, vintage '150'.

Over the coming year you’ll see it at the Marbill Coaches Stadium on matchdays, across our digital channels, on club merchandise, and in and around Paisley. On the pitch, the crest will stand on its own: a special version of one of our early club crests, worn for our 150th year.

The year ahead

Work is well under way behind the scenes. Here’s a first look at what’s planned:

  • Celebrating with Paisley. We’re working with Renfrewshire Council on a civic reception in early 2027. It will celebrate the club's role in the life of the town and bring together the club, the community and our key partners.
  • A 150th celebratory fixture. Planning is under way for a special match in season 2027/28 to mark the anniversary. We’ll confirm the opponent and date in due course.
  • A commemorative strip. A one-off anniversary strip will be the centrepiece of a celebratory range of memorabilia and merchandise. More will be revealed nearer the time.
  • Still Marching. Our story told through a commemorative book capturing all our club's big moments in the last 150 years.
  • Reaching further into our community. We’ll extend the club's work across Renfrewshire's schools and wider community. That includes plans to bring the story of St Mirren and Paisley into the classroom, and to connect young Buddies with older supporters through their memories of the club.
  • And more to come. Further supporter experiences will be announced as the year unfolds.

Chairman, John Needham is looking forward to the year ahead: "As a proud Paisley Buddie and chairman of the club, it gives me great pleasure to see our 150th anniversary celebrations launched. We are a club steeped in our community and want these events to involve as many local people as possible.

"We will celebrate our proud history, thanking all who have made that success possible, and link it to our vision and strategy for the future across Paisley, People and Performance. Please get involved in any way you can - we'll only be 150 once!"

This is only the beginning. Keep an eye on our website and social channels for more over the coming months as we count down to 6 October 2027.

150 years. Our Town, Our Team. COYS.

"We will celebrate our proud history, thanking all who have made that success possible, and link it to our vision and strategy for the future across Paisley, People and Performance. Please get involved in any way you can - we'll only be 150 once!"
