Opposition

Motherwell had to settle for a point away to St Johnstone on Wednesday night after a 2-2 draw at McDiarmid Park. The 'Well fell behind, but took a 2-1 lead after goals from Ibrahim Said and Tawanda Maswanhise. However, Josh Campbell scored for the home side in stoppage time to see it end all square.

That draw did arrest a run of six defeats in a row for Alfred Johansson's side after losing to Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee, Celtic, Kilmarnock and Hearts.

The Steelmen sit in 10th place in the William Hill Premiership with nine points from their opening 11 matches. They've won two matches in the league so far this season, defeating Hibernian 2-1 at Easter Road on the opening day and Dundee United 3-0 at Fir Park at the beginning of September.

Previous

The two sides have faced off already this season, battling out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Marbill Coaches Stadium in August.

Goals from Maswanhise and Regan Charles-Cook saw Motherwell take an early 2-0 lead, but Saints would be ahead by half-time with Paul Nsio, Declan John and Samuel Ramos scoring to put us 3-2 in front. Jardell Kanga struck in added on time at the end of the game to take a point.

Our last victory at Fir Park was back in September 2023 when a Scott Tanser goal was enough to score a 1-0 win at the home of the Steelmen.

Referee Team

Don Robertson is the referee on Saturday and he'll be assisted by Chris Rae and Kevin Buchanan. Abbie Hendry is the fourth official.

Steven McLean is the VAR.
