Luke Thomas becomes eighth summer signing

The 27-year-old is our eighth summer signing and joins Saints on a two-year deal, with the club holding an option of a further year.

The winger previously played at Bristol Rovers where he made 158 appearances for the Gas, scoring 13 goals and assisting 21 times.

Prior to his spell at Bristol Rovers, Luke played for Cheltenham Town, Derby County, Coventry City, Barnsley and Ipswich Town.

Luke adds further experience to the group with over 300 career appearances during his time down south. With clearance received, he is available for selection this afternoon.

Speaking to stmirren.com, Luke said: "I’m really excited for this new opportunity and I can't wait to get going.

"After the first conversation I had with the gaffer, I remember getting off the phone and telling my agent to get it done and as quickly as that it was done.

"He told me how he likes to play and how he sees the game. He's so ambitious and that's what I am in my career. We're definitely on the same wavelength and I think it's going to be a really good relationship.

"I always watch Scottish football. It's something I've always wanted to experience and I'm lucky enough now to be able to go out and experience it. Hopefully I can grab this opportunity with both hands.

"I get on really well with Jacob Devaney’s dad. I was doing some training with him off-season and he couldn't speak highly enough of the club. As soon as I spoke to him, I knew what a good club it was, and I couldn't wait to get here.

"I work hard on and off the ball. I think I'm quite clever and hopefully I can add plenty of goals and assists."
