Jonah Ayunga agrees new contract
St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce that Jonah Ayunga has agreed a new one-year contract.
The 29-year-old has signed a deal until summer 2027, with the club holding an option to extend for a further year.
Jonah, who joined the club in June 2022, made 32 appearances for Saints last season, memorably scoring twice in our Premier Sports Cup Final triumph over Celtic at Hampden in December.
The forward’s season was curtailed when he suffered an ACL injury in a match at home to Livingston in April. Jonah will focus on his rehabilitation with the Kenyan international expected to return in the New Year.
Manager Craig McLeish said: "I'm delighted for Jonah.
"We wanted to look after him. It was the right thing for the club to do to look after him throughout his period of rehab.
"He’s been a fantastic servant. He goes down as a hero in the club's history books because of what he did in the cup final and he deserves to be looked after.
"We look forward to having him back around the New Year. Hopefully it feels like a new signing for us. We know that we've got a really strong and experienced player coming back.
"Again, it’s important for us to look after Jonah and his family and they get some security while he works through his rehab."
