Our Final

May 16th 1987, a date no St Mirren fan will forget, especially if you were at Hampden Park that sunny day! So to commemorate the occasion we've brought together Tony Fitzpatrick and lifelong fan and St Mirren TV co-commentator Chris Gilgallon to discuss their memories of the day from their own point of view.

Tony as club captain and Chris as a supporter taking his family to Hampden to cheer on the Buddies. They take us through the early rounds, the build up to the game, as well as their feelings when Ian Ferguson fired home the winner and of course the celebrations afterwards!

'Our Final', was made in association with staff at the University of the West of Scotland, the film is a great way to finish off our second successful season working with UWS on St Mirren TV.

Tony said: "It lifted my whole day, I never get tired of talking about the final, great memories."

For Chris it was a dream come true to be sat with one of his heroes talking about their shared memories of that great day.

As a lifelong fan knowing what Tony means to the club and to the fans it was a privilege to share our experiences of the day."

Film maker Jamie Hare from the UWS Studio Team had the idea of bringing the pair together.

I actually grew up in Kinghorn Drive, the road that leads to Hampden and can vividly remember hanging about outside the stadium before the game and all the fans descending on the area so it brought back some good memories for me too.

"Hopefully St Mirren fans enjoy hearing what they have to say and can relate in particular to what Chris did as it'll possibly be similar to their own day."
