Duckens Nazon signs on loan for Saints

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Duckens Nazon on loan until the end of the season.

The 24 year-old Haitian international joins the Buddies from Belgian Pro League side Sint-Truiden.

Born in Paris, Duckens began his career in France playing for the likes of Roye-Noyon, Olympique Saint-Quentin and Stade Lavallois before joining Kerala Blasters in 2016.

The striker left the Indian side to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2017. While at the Midlands club, Duckens had loan spells at Oldham and Coventry where he scored 14 goals across his time at both clubs. That led to a permanent move to Sint-Truiden in the summer of 2018.

Duckens has been prolific at international level having scored 15 goals in 24 caps for Haiti.

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney said: "I think all supporters have been crying out for someone who will play that number nine role. He has really good qualities, carrying the ball and physically as well.

"He is very powerful and we have probably lacked that physical presence up-front to help Simeon Jackson and others who have played up there. We feel like getting someone like Duckens on board will be a massive help.

"We’ve done a huge amount of work on it. It’s been very much one of patience and we have said all along that we would rather wait to try and get the right players in than sign for the sake of signing.

"There’s a hunger from him to get over and get playing again. He is a Haiti international but has lived and played in England for a few years and that was important for us."
