St Mirren FC Community Trust relaunched

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the relaunch of the St Mirren FC Community Trust with a newly formed board of Trustees.

Alan Wardrop of Fitzroy Wealth Management, Ian Reid of Scottish Sports Futures, Gavin Whyte of Sigmoid Consulting, Paul McNeil of the Scottish Football Association and Gayle Brannigan, who will head the Trust, will be the driving force behind it.

Club Chairman Gordon Scott and Chief Executive Tony Fitzpatrick were key in the success of the relaunch and their commitment to support the long-term plans of the Trust is invaluable.

Over the course of the past six months the new team have invested a great deal of time researching the amazing work their counterparts are delivering throughout Scotland and in talking to partner organisations within Renfrewshire to identify the real challenges and needs of the local residents, as such they have created an exciting program of community projects which fulfil their key objectives and will greatly benefit the lives of those most vulnerable and in need.

Some of these programmes will be launching from December 2018 and will include a partnership with Star Project on a Men’s Shed based at the Simple Digital Arena, a 'Future Entrepreneurship' education programme, the introduction of our health, fitness and wellbeing programme 'Fit Fans' and a ground-breaking girls & women’s mental health programme.

And to complement the youth development programmes currently being delivered at the clubs boys & men’s academy at Ralston, the St Mirren Community Trust has a long-term vision to create a legacy facility. This would start with our girls & women’s football academy and then progress to a multi sports hub based close to the stadium. With no other female only facilities currently in Scotland this would be an entirely unique concept.

These are exciting times for both the club and the Trust and we are keen to engage with as many people and partners within the community as possible.

If you feel that you would benefit from taking part in one of our programmes or would like to find out more information on how to support or volunteer please email [email protected]
